Hi. In December we are doing a split stay between AKV and BWV. My husband loves having the dining plan. He likes knowing food is prepaid. I know this is not necessarily the most cost effective way to go. Is there any way to check into second resort and thus access second set of dining credits before we physically go to the resort? We are going to leave AKV to go to Epcot. I would rather not drag kids out of Epcot and back again if we did not need to. TIA.

Unless things have changed, you can't check into BWV until you check out at AKV and it is processed by the resort. You should not do the auto check out which might not complete for a couple of hours but go to the front desk to check out, letting them know that you are moving to BWV.

Your AKV DDP credits are good until midnight of your check out day.

As you are leaving your first resort, if your credits are all used up, go to the concierge desk and they can help you out. We have done this before.

If you set an early check-out/check-in time online (and check early check-in is the most important) your credits will load into your account without going to the second resort after all credits of all kinds from the first leg are used. But if, for example, you have some snack credits from leg 1 left that you want to use until midnight but you want to use dining credits from leg 2 before all of those are gone, a concierge can get everything loaded in manually and keep the credits you have left.

If you have the DP for both parts and actually check in to the new resort, you may lose access to the first resort rooms and DP credits if applicable. The question of accessing the DP credits in this manner (without actually going to the resort and checking in) came up recently but there wasn't a definitive answer that I saw. I don't know if you put an early arrival if the credits will be automatically active early in the day, if the resort one is departing can get your credits accessible or if Guest relations can get you access. But those are the questions. The simplest way to guarantee access is to go to the resort and physically check in. I doubt MS can answer for certain. You might call the Dining number for WDW and discuss as well as discussing with your first resort to see what options they suggest will work though this is a situation where the answer and reality may be different and the answer may be different every time you ask someone who should know.
