I got the 40% off so decided to try a split stay, AKL savanna view and our favorite CBR.

I've never even visited AKL before. My son Loves animals, so I know he'll be thrilled and it is his birthday :)

I feel a bit guilty spending the extra money on savanna view, but like I said, my son will be thrilled.

But, will I be thrilled spending the extra money? I don't care about the longer bus ride to any park.

:)

Congrats. I am sure your son will be thrilled--and what a great birthday present. AKL is the only resort we wish to try that we've not stayed at (we've stayed Poly, Contemp, ALl-Star Sports and our favorite, CSR).

I can't really speak to the money you're spending and the thrill that this expenditure will or won't give you ;) ... but DH and I have had many happy trips spent at AKL in a savanna-view room and, to us, it's well worth the price.

Staying in a savanna-view room at AKL is the main reason we've gone to WDW so much in the last few years. The view from the room's balcony is nothing short of stupendous. To me, that's the main attraction at WDW.

Thanks

We got a great price, $183.00 savanna view; but CBR for same nights would be $89.60 (with 40% off)

I know my son will love it. I just am feeling a bit of anxiety.

Hi how do you get these codes. I have stayed at several disney hotels booked direct with both disney uk and US. I have also signed up on the web. Is it just luck to get them or am I missing a trick. Thanks for any help.

It seems to be random on who gets the codes. I received one last year in the mail, so when I called yesterday to book, I asked the CM if I had another one this year because we would not be able to afford the AKL without it. She checked for me and we did have the 40% off code. :)

Too weird!! I want to take my son for his birthday this October, and I considering an AKL savvanah view room, and the CBR as well! We have never stayed at either resort and I know we would really like AKL, and I think we would really like CBR. I am waiting on a 40% off code or some other money miracle so I can book it - whatever we decided "it" is, lol. I don't think I want the hassle of switching resorts in the middle of my stay, though. When are you going? Maybe you can let me know how it goes and help me decide. :)

Oops - I see in your signature you are going in 11 months and 2 days, so I guess my decision will have to be made before you go, lol.

We're going in Dec. We usually stay at CBR - we love it! The new Pirate ship pool play area was open this past Sept. when we went and my son loved it.

I only considered the AKL because my son loves animals so much and has been saying he wants to go to on safari in Africa, so I figured WDW AKL is the next best thing :)

I called yesterday evening and just asked if I had code and the cm was nice enough to check and I did! She did start off saying "I can't tell if there is" but then says "Let me see" and sure enough she found one. So it was hard to pass on the AKL with the 40% off.

We've never done a split stay before. I'm not crazy about it, but willing to give it a try and get to experience the AKL and see our beloved CBR again :)

I say go and enjoy!!! Look at it this way, you may never be able to get this good a price again!!! I was originally booked offsite, got a 40% code and almost ignored it. Then I learned that they don't come too often so we decided to book a split stay at WL/BC! Loved it, no regrets even though way paid a little more, it was well worth it.

I too, want to try AKL. My 4 yo loves animals, too. We did go to BOMA one day and AKL is soooo nice!!

About split stays: it was very easy. We checked out of WL at 11. took a cab to BC with all our stuff and were in out room at BC by noon. The only hassle was for me, the mom, packing up all the kids stuff the night before, but it was still ok.

So relax and ENJOY! You made the right decision!!:) :thumbsup2

Glad to hear your transition went smooth. We'll have a car so I'm not too worried about getting from one to the other.

And you're definitely correct about taking advantage of the 40% off; we may not get that offer again. Hopefully, it will be a very memorable experience for my son's 10th b'day. (he has autism and when he gets hooked on something it's to the extreme, so that's all he talks about right now is safari animals) :)

So fun!! $183 is an AMAZING rate and definitely worth the price! Don't think for a second that you're making the wrong choice. AKL is a magical resort--everything about it is incredible, from the staff, to the food, to the amazing views. Congratulations!!!

I am sure it will be memorable....drinking coffee, looking out at the animals, your son's happy face, a wonderful birthday ...priceless!!
Enjoy!!!:)

Having stayed at both they are great choices! I hope you are staying at CBR first? When doing a split stay we always start out at the lower accomodation first.

We're starting at AKL first because it's still the value season when we arrive before rates kick up for holiday season on Dec. 18th. We'll be paying holiday rate for CBR starting 12/18.

We will be at AKL on my son's b'day :)

We've stayed at CBR numerous times so I'm not worried about feeling let down going from deluxe to mod.

I see you leave in a month for CBR - Enjoy! :)

My son was excited about the pirate-themed pool area as well. His first choice was the AKL so he could see the animals from our room, then I showed him pictures of CBR and he said he might like that more. I did try calling about a 40% off pin-code and the CM said I didn't have one. That probably won't stop me from trying again later on, though!

Thanks for the info - have a great trip for your son's birthday!:)

We just got back and did a split stay between AKL Savannah view and OKW. It was pretty easy the bell service even took care of our luggage for us! They transfer between hotels for you. I have to say AKL was beautiful but I felt it wasn't worth the money. We had fun and I was the biggest pro seeing the animals out my window you could be and I found it a better view to just walk the path. Early in the morning when I woke and thought to eat breakfast with the animals none were around. That said, Boma was the best restaurant we ate at and we had dinner there. The staff was very friendly and it was clean. We just preferred OKW with a little more room and a little more relaxing.
