Do advertisers pay the same rate,a lesser rate or a higher rate when they buy a split screen spot for a sporting event as opposed to a full screen.

On one hand the spot will have more viewers as more people will not surf other Channels, etc. like they do during full screen commercials.

On the other hand viewers will not pay as much attention to the split screen commercial as they would full screen as they will mostly be watching the sporting event.

No idea but I find that practice annoying when I have seen either golf or auto racing do that. They seem to divide the screen up into about 5 different sections and watching the sporting event or even the commercial is a nuisance. On a few sporting events they say there will be limited or no commercial interruptions thanks to the sponsors they mention. I often wonder if they have to pay more of less when that happens. I generally put the sound on mute during commercials and usually not interested in whatever they are pitching.............LOL.

I laugh when they advertise some pricey object like a Rolex watch. The celebrities or sports figures in their ads likely got their watch for free and were compensated to wear it. How that makes me more likely to want to buy one I have NO idea.

I've recently noticed on some streaming channels that the advertiser will show two commercials side-by-side. They'll then ask you which commercial you want to watch.

I never choose. I just let the commercial break end. I'm not doing work for them.

Good question! My guess would be they pay less. Technically, an ESPN would be able to gather revenue for three additional games(in a 4 screen) that I normally might not be watching -so should accept less from each(x4)

I agree. Even better are the ads for something which never really tells what the product/service is and asks you to go look at some website..........nope, if you can't tell me what you are advertising, I am not wasting my time where you are trying to give me an assignment to go research whatever it is you are attempting to sell .................LOL.
