We just came back from a great stay at AKV and BLT! We stayed at AKV for three nights and transfered to BLT for the last two nights. It was a very smooth transfer other than the dining plan issues! So here was our dilemma. When we checked out of AKV we were told that our remaining meals were good until midnight so we could use those up first and then once we checked into BLT we could start our new meal plan. Since we weren't going to check into BLT until the afternoon/early evening this was perfect. Well good thought but since they had our ressies linked under one number even though a split stay, our cards went inactive before we checked into BLT.
So long story short we found ourselves at HS during SW weekend with no dining plan/ inactive cards. Luckily we had cash etc. with but when you pay for the plan you really don't want to have to pay out of pocket. We couldn't even get a bottle of water with our cards. This was tough for our kids who venture off together and like the ability to use the dining plan for water, snacks and meals etc. Anyway, here is the helpful hint part of our story... Make sure if you have a split stay DVC ressie under one confirmation number, it would be wise to go directly to the new resort in the morning and get your new cards before going to the parks. On a positive note we loved how all the meal credits and snacks rolled over to our new ressie and did not expire at midnight. If anyone has questions about the split stay or the AKV and BLT resorts we would be happy to answer any questions.
