Split Reservation - Same Hotel or Different Hotel

We want to add a single day on to the front our 7 night reservation. We have a CM discount so the extra day on the front it blocked out from the discount and we can't just add it. We were told we had to make a separate reservation. We can stay in the same hotel or do one night a different resort. Any advantages to staying in the same hotel?

If you stay in the same hotel there might be the possibility of not having to switch rooms but of course that's not a guarantee. If you have to pack up and check in again anyway, I think I might try a different resort.

I agree with the pp. If you book the same room category, it is possible you won't have to move. If you choose to book the same resort/room type, you can have the 2 reservations linked with a request to keep the same room. When you check in for the first reservation, tell the CM you have a continuing reservation and would like to stay in the same room if possible. It's not guaranteed you won't have to move, but they will do everything they can to keep you in the same room. If you book the same resort but different room type, I think I'd try a different resort since you'd have to pack up and move anyway. Good luck.
