My mom and I are planning to share some meals on our trip. I've heard of restaurants elsewhere charging a fee to split the entree between two people. Does anyone know if they do this at any WDW restaurants?

they used to do that at some character meals, way back in the day. But now they just charge full price at the character meals (all buffets or family-style meals now so if you're going to any of those, expect to pay full-price for each of you.) You're OK at all counter service places, of course (and many of those meals, especially the combo type meals, are big enough to share.

There have been reports that Beaches & Cream doesn't allow splitting a meal if you're on the dining plan, but you're OK if you're paying cash...the same is true at Via Napoli in Italy/Epcot (won't allow 2 people on dining plan to split an individual pizza...if on DDP, you would each have to order your own entree.) Other than those two, don't recall any other restaurant that has said no on sharing.:thumbsup2

Usually when restaurants charge a split plate fee you get more food. The plates are split in the kitchen and usually the entree is cut in half, but each plate receives their own side dishes. I have found its a good value but I have not done that at Disney. My husband doesn't like sharing..... :-(

You obviously cannot share a plate at any buffet meal at any Disney World restaurant. At the others, the only one that will charge is Shula's. Every other places is fine with split meals. But I warn you - most of the time, you will get the entree split (if it's a steak, half for you, half for your mother) but the sides are usually in full. I haven't done this with anything except fries but I know each of us got a full serving of fries. And then there was the time I said three of us wanted to share the cheese soup at Le Cellier. Did it come with one bowl and three spoons? Nope - each of us had our own half filled bowl and we were charged for one serving.

Disney will not let you starve.

Hubby and I split a fried chicken lunch at the Tune In Lounge and as others have said, we each got half the entree and an entire serving of green beans and mashed potatoes. It was seriously a whole meal each!
