Hi!

I am thinking of booking my first Disney Cruise. My DH and I have been on other Cruise lines.

I prefer an inside cabin. There will be two adults in the room. I am trying to decide beteen a cat 10 and 11.

So...what do you think of the split bathroom? Is it worth $125? Cat 10 or 11??

Thank you in advance!

Well, as a cheapskate.....I'd say with 2 in the cabin, no, but with 4 in the cabin, yes, it's worth it.
We got a free upgrade to a verandah on our cruise. We used it to death, but even my "money is no object" kids agreed it wasn't worth the extra $1,000 more it would have cost us if we had to pay for it.

We love the split bathrooms. We were 4 in the cabin and loved that I could shower, and the kids could still use the bathroom if they needed without coming in on mom. My DH and I were just on a Celebrity cruise and it was just the 2 of us. I missed that split bathroom when I wanted to get in the shower and the dh was sitting upon the throne! Not much room to maneuver around him to get to the shower!

I definately agree with the other posters. I LOVED the split bathroom. However if if was just DH and me, I might not spend the extra money on it, But we are a family of 6, always book two attached rooms, and the split baths in each is perfect for us!

I'll echo the above. I've had both. When is is just 2 of us in the cabin, the single bath is fine. I'd book a cat 12 and save some money (if it's available for your dates). On our recent cruise my cabin had me (mom) and 3 teen girls. I think we would not have survived without the split bath.

I could not agree more!! Split bath is a must for us.

For just two people I say it isn't worth the extra money. We love the split bathroom however!

Love the split bathroom. What a time saver! Both when it was just DH and I and also now with our two kids. Just easier to be organized and get in and out quickly when getting ready for dinner/pools/etc.

With the four of us we have to have the split bath. I also like the double steamer trunk in the cat 10s. :) Great for storage!

DH and I had a Cat 11 on our honeymoon cruise. It was fine, plenty of space and we didn't miss the split bathroom.

We upgraded to a Cat 10 on our next cruise, and were very glad we did, because with three or more people in the cabin, it's a great feature!! So we've stuck with Cat 10s ever since. I think if you have more than 2 people in the room, I'd pay the price difference without blinking, but with just two, it's really up to you.

IF you or your spouse likes to take more time getting ready in the morning or before dinner, the split bathroom is a good idea, because you can still use the toilet or the shower while your spouse uses the other side.

The split bath is nice, but there was one problem for me... I only have one toiletries bag! It's the kind that has a hangar on it, so I hang it on the robe hook or shelving in the bathroom when I'm on a cruise: usually on the back of the door. But with the split bathroom, it somehow always seemed to be in the wrong bathroom... in other words, NOT the one I was using! Eventually I just got tired of moving my bag around, and took out my shower items and left them in the shower. But there's not much storage space there.

However, from a 'getting ready' perspective, it is very nice to have 2 bathrooms when you're dealing with kids!

Not only will you save money with the Cat 11....you have much better location choices in my opinion.

Also...the single bath doesn't feel as crowded as one of the split ones....you have the elbow room or visual space of the tub area and it just doesn't feel cramped to me.

So unless one of you is a major bathroom hog...save the money, get a Cat 11 deck 7 aft (near the 'secret' aft public verandah) **OR** a forward 'sideways' Cat 11. Those feel roomier because the layout. :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh... this is EXACTLY what I was going to say! I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that had this issue!

I'll be the odd one out... I hated the split bath! Every time I squeezed into that bathroom no bigger than a public stall, I was claustrophobic... and I am NOT claustrophobic! It was so tight that I would leave the door open if I was the only one in the room! I think I would rather have a single bath with the space of the 2 bathrooms, and be able to turn around without open the door without straddling the toilet!

Unfortunately, I don't believe the cabins on DCL actually work this way. The single bath isn't really any bigger than either side of the split bath. Because of this, the Cat 12 and Cat 11 rooms are listed at 184sq feet and the Cat 10 cabins are listed at 214sq feet. There is actually added space for the "other" bathroom.

Exactly. Cruise ships are not known for large bathrooms. I swear our single bathroom on the Pride of America was smaller than either half of the Disney bathroom. There was a spot for one person to stand, shower to the left, toilet to the front, sink/mirror to the right. I had to squeeze all the way in to even close the door.

I prefer the single bathroom over the split bathroom. We had a category 11 with the single bathroom on the Magic last year and then we got on the Wonder the day after we got off the Magic and had a category 9 (split bathrooms) so our memories were still fresh. The category 11 bathroom is bigger than half of the category 9 bathroom, but definitely smaller than the two taken together. However, the bit of extra space in the single bath room as compared to each side of the split bathroom made all the difference to me. When we booked the Westbound Transatlantic, we initially had to book a category 10 (split bathroom) as none of the category 11s showed up when I booked. As soon as I spotted a category 11, I switched just because of the bathroom.
