Split Bath vs. Non Split Bath

Non-split bath = toilet + shower/bath + sink all in one room

Split bath = shower/bath + sink in one room, toilet + sink in one room

A single bath with everything. Or for the splits-two littler ones. One with sink and toilet. One with sink and shower/tub.

We love the split.

I can see the advantage of the split bath when more than 2 people share the cabin, but I didn't care for it. I didn't like moving my toiletries from one bathroom to the other. It would've been great if both bathrooms had a toilet. Without that - you use the toilet in one bathroom, then move to the other to take your shower.

Does anyone know what I have in terms of split bath or not?
I have two connecting 6Bs-Aft, on the Dream.
I cruise often (although not on DCL) and the only time I've had a split was on DCL about 10 years ago. I do miss it on other lines. Even though we usually get the kids their own rooms, I did enjoy the split bathroom.

The only cabins without split baths are inside cabins, so cabins in Category 6B will have split baths.

Hubby and I loved the split bath on our cruise last summer. He kept his toiletries in one bathroom and I kept mine in another. He could be showering, but that wouldn't preclude me from also getting ready in the morning. I can see it being even more convenient if you have a whole family staying in the room.

So, the single bathroom, is it the same size as the split just without the wall? Or is it just a little larger because there is only one?

The only cabins without split baths are inside cabins, so cabins in Category 6B will have split baths.

The split baths are in cat. 11 and cat. 12 cabins - they are labeled as Standard Inside cabins. The split baths start with cat. 10 and go up to cat. 4 and are labeled as Deluxe cabins.


Just wanted to clarify the quoted post that not all inside cabins have the single/combined bathroom.

Kind of OT, but when my DH and I went on a RCCL cruise last year, there were three 20ish girls sharing a room on the same cruise. After we juggled around each other each night, we laughed about how three girls did it sharing the same cabin. I'm REALLY looking forward to the split bath, that was the worse part of our cruise was working around each other getting ready to dine.

We love the split bath, but have done both. I generally keep all my makeup, and stuff in one bathrooom, and DH keeps his in the other. We never seem to have to move things around. I can get ready while he is in the shower. I enjoy the split, and given the option would pay the extra to always have the split bath...more shelving and storage in the split bathrooom IMO.

This summer my 2 adult daughters and I shared an inside cabin (160 sq. ft.) for 12 nights on Princess. One daughter usually showered at night, and we had no problems getting ready.

Having one cruise ship bathroom is no different than having one hotel bathroom - other than size. For a lot of people my age, having only one bathroom in the house they grew up in was also the norm!

Thanks for all the responses! My kids take a bath at night and DH can shower at noght or morning so I am thinkig we can make a single bath work for us. We are trying to be "budget" about this cruise and would rather spend on fun stuff than a higher category with a split bath.

I have a 3 bedroom timeshares in HHI, Orlando and also DVC, so NO resort one bathroom for us
