Splatter T's No GLUE!! My first Dis T attempt!!

Ta dah!!! I tried the splatter technique with a few twists!!!
I bought the smallest bottles of fabric paint that Michaels had, and some little mister bottles at 99cents each... and went for it!
I printed out on just plain ole 8.5 by 11 printer paper, the swirly mickey head that I found in some one's photobucket...(thank you so much whoever you are).
I cut the head out, placed it on top of my washed t-shirt and sprayed!!
I think it turned out well!!

I am not very patient and could not think of why I wanted to fuss with glue that would not co-operate and I had to wait for it to dry???

The only thing was the pink sprayer got a little clogged and did not want to spray well after the first few squirts.. I think I have to shake the bottle longer next time!!!

That looks great! The glue is no fun at all. You didn't miss a thing by not doing that. I think your way sounds much easier. Thanks for sharing.

So much nicer then mine with the glue turned out. My husband is sick of hearing, But everyone's looked so good online! I'll have to try this way out now. Thanks for the tip!!

So, you actually cut out the swirl mickey head? Did you use scissors on an exacto knife? Cutting that out sounds like you needed lots of patience to me. Although, you only have to cut it once and then re-use. right?

You know... I cut it out with just scissors, took me about 15 mins... that is the kind of waiting that I can handle..... better that than DAYS of waiting for glue to dry, or what was the other method...cornstarch or something?!?!

And YES I only got one use out of my outline. It wanted to "spring up" so I just gave it one light shot of water from a mister bottle and left it alone for 5 minutes. The paint actually made the outline quite wet, ( but it did not move) and I left it on the shirt to dry in place for about 30 mins BEFORE I picked it up and off...carefully!!

I wonder if a soft flexible plastic sheet like perhaps a binder page divider would work... hhmmm ... might be kinda inflexible, but might be worth a try!

I have posted a pix of the small sizes of paint i bought (1 oz) and the spray bottles were 2 ozs. I could not see me using the full amount (4oz) of each color that the craft store sold for $8!!!

AND I probably have enough paint left to do another 3 t-shirts!! Make sure that you shake the paint in the little spray bottles to make it smooth, my pink got a clog and sprayed a little funny at the end.

I love your shirt, but before I try it, I have a few questions....
Did you spray the outline with water when it was on the shirt, or was the outline away from the shirt, you sprayed it, then after 5 mins put it onto the dry shirt?
Also, did you add water to the paint in the spray bottle, or just straight paint then lots of shaking???
My paint had just dried on the shirts I made w/ the glue method, but your shirt just looks ssoooooo great I think I may be doing another set!

So... when I say "sprayed"... I actually just misted it with some plain water in another little spray bottle. Just a tiny bit mind you... just enough to make the pattern "lay down" KWIM?? Squirted a bit and waited to see where it would lay flat and where it would not...placing the 'pattern' where I specifically wanted it to go. The pattern was a little 'curly' and wanted to stand up away from the shirt, I guess it was from handling when I cut it out.

I DID add a touch of water to the bottom of the spray bottle maybe a teaspon if even that much, (dh's suggestion) just to liquify the paint a bit but not to dilute it. Sorry I forgot to mention that in my first post. You will have to see how it comes out of your mist bottles... test on a sheet of paper or something...

I am thinking of the multitude of designs I could do with this method now too!!

I am excited to see anyone else's t's with this method!!

I hope that it is okay to share this image... I stumbled across it when going through the DISigners photobuckets or perhaps on a thread somewhere... to thanks to whomever I borrowed it from!!

I copied it into Microsoft Word to ensure that I liked the size it was before I printed it!!
