Splash winter closing

I KNOW it's all only speculation and guesswork... But any ideas on when they usually announce the Splash Mt refurb dates? We're trying to pick jan/feb dates and are flexible enough to shift it around a bit if there's a chance it will be open. I know last year's closure was long so wishfully thinking it might be a shorter one this year.

I'm pretty sure it always closes sometime after New Years in early to mid January and reopens in March. But I am not 100% positive.

It used to be shorter though... In 2011 (I think) we rode it in early February. Really I just want to know if anyone remembered when they usually announce the dates so I can decide if it's worth waiting to make my plans.

We were there the first week of February 2013 and it was closed . This year we were there first week of March and it was closed again .

Some years it's just a few weeks. Other years it's a couple of months. Only one time in recent years, it stayed open since BTMRR was scheduled for refurb. Probably going to be one of the first two.

I don't think there is a set time for the release of refurb dates--they just trickle out whenever.

On 9/17/13, it was posted on the Dis that Splash would be closed for most of January, 2014. A couple of days later, Disney announced it would actually be closed from early January into March.

Took me a few minutes of searching, but I knew there was a thread on the announcement of this last year because I was one of the "February braggers" who ended up crying the blues...

And there you have one reason I'm probably moving my trip dates from February to April next year.

And there you have one reason I'm probably moving my trip dates from February to April next year.
