Just returned from our rescheduled annual father/son trip to WDW. Son is 19, his first ride ever was Splash Mountain and it is still his favorite. As an aspiring Imagineer to be (he's taking engineering in college) while in the queue for Splash we were talking about how the retheme of the Bayou / Louisiana-ish design necessary to adapt to Princess & the Frog will not even remotely fit in Frontierland.

So the question is, do they go counter to what Disney is and drop an attraction in that in no way matches the theme of the land it is in, or do they tweak the surrounding area to fit the re-theme? Rock, mountain & railroad tracks don't exactly convey the image of the bayou.

What do you think?

We also both think the name needs to still include Splash Mountain. Such as "The Princess and the Frog at Splash Mountain". Although my son did jokingly suggest "Splash Bayou"

Funny, I thought of it the opposite way! Bayou means the gulf coast, which also means Texas. I imagined these things working together pretty well. I can totally see a New Orleans theme fitting in.

I mean, there's no mountains in bayous by definition, so that seems kind of problematic, but the location theming made sense to me.

I see no problem with leaving Frontierland the same, as-is.

Ya all Disney needs is more "projects" to delay and clutter up the parks with construction barriers. I don't have a problem with it either.

It's a better fit at DL where it will essentially stretch NO Square past the Haunted Mansion. The "Hungry Bear" restaurant and Pooh are going to stick out like a sore thumb though. I could see a re-theme of the restaurant to something like the cafe at the beginning of the movie (Tiana's Place would have to be a Signature Dining to really do it justice), but what do you do about Pooh?

I mean, big thunder is in an arid desert whereas the inside of splash mountain is filled with pools of water and vegetation and critters. They were never consistent.
