For those of you who stayed in a townhome with a splash pool; how did you like it? Actually, I should probably ask how did your kids like it?

My kids will be 12, 10, and 6 when we go next year. They are not super strong swimmers but love to swim nonetheless. Of course, we will make a few trips to the big community pool during our trip but I was wondering how the splash pools went over with kids. It seems like a good way to cool off after a long day when Mom and Dad don't feel like going to the big pool.

I'd love to hear input. Thanks!

We were there Dec. of last year and our kids used the splash pool every single day ( 5 and 8 at the time). We take a mid day break and packing up to go to the resort pool doesn't fit my bill for a relaxing break. We loved it and are going back this year.

I think you're kids will love having the splash pool. It was only DH and I staying at the townhouse and we loved it and I've read many posts that kids have loved having their own pool. They and you will appreciate being able to just walk out your patio doors and jump in after a long day at the parks instead of having to get everything gathered up and go to the main pool. You can watch them right from the living room and kitchen area while you're getting something to eat or watching TV. IMHO I think they'll love it. :thumbsup2

My kids loved it (5 & 11 at the time of the trip) and used it frequently. My son (5) actually cried when it was time to leave, because he wanted to keep swimming.

mine (3 year old daughter and 13 year old son) loved it too. even had a 16 year old neice along and she liked it better than the community pool.

note about the community pool. it is VERY shallow. most of it is 3 feet deep or less. very few outskirts of the pool are 4 to 4.5 fleet deep. we didn't care for it other than the 3 year old liking it. the rest of us had to either sit or lay down to get most of your body under the water.

the splash pool at the townhouse was 3 feet at one end and about 5 feet at the other with a few nice built in seating areas.

and yes, it was great to be able to have the sliding door open and have the kids swim while i prepped a meal or relaxed in the living room.

We just got back and my 8 and 9 yo grandsons loved the splash pool. The went in there more than they went to the community pool. It's so much more relaxing because you can stay in the air-conditioned living room and still keep your eye on them.

Sounds great!!! Thanks for all of the replies.

I am still trying to get over the mindset of "offsite is the devil" that seems to be the norm on many of these boards. But the more I learn, the more I am convinced that offsite is the way to go for my family. I'm not seeing a downside. It's gonna be awesome!

My kids were 11 at the time we went and liked the splash pool. We did spend some time at the big pool on our day off, but like someone else said, it's pretty shallow. After being in the parks all day, it was nice to be able to jump right in the splash pool, especially since we would have never bothered to walk over to the big pool.

My kids loved the splash pool (17, 8, 6).......they loved it so much we never got to the community pool.

It was perfect being able to just relax watching them on the couch in the living room during our mid day breaks or in the evening.....
