Splash Mtn axed from PM EMH

Hi :goodvibes
We fly from Gatwick on October 8th, staying at CSR for 12 nights! How about you?

Xx

We fly from Gatwick too, Ive just read your pre-trip report your on the earlier flight,we go at 1.05pm I was never even offered the earlier flight when i booked :rotfl2: didnt realise there was one until i came on here and started seeing people say they was on the early flight!!

Oh well at least we can lie in for once! We are going to go stay at the Marriot the night before as we have a son with AS and i want to make sure we get the 2,2,2 config so we get 3 window seats (i do have them pre-booked but we are at the back of the plane right now and we really need the front) so Im hoping getting there at 12 will help me with that.

Are you going up the night before? or travelling in the morning? We are staying at SSR and i seen from your trip report that we are at Hollywood studios the same day as you!:)

We will still do the emh because this ride isn't on our must do list anyway. We do the evening for the cooler temps and the atmosphere and just being able to sit and eat a Mickey ice lolly at 1 in the morning etc..Taking this one ride away it wouldn't even enter my head that I would consider staying off resort...that is NEVER EVER going to happen again..:rotfl:
The WDW resort has me well and truly over a barrel, hook line and sinker..:)

Mind you still can't believe the replaced it with the Tikki Birds...what are they thinking:lmao:

I suspect it's not what they were thinking, but rather what they were smoking ....

It won't stop us doing EMH and as I said earlier in this thread, it's not about one ride (nobody goes to WDW for just one ride) and it will still be there in the day; it's that this comes on the back of so many reductions to the ONSITE BENEFITS that one has to ask WHY pay the premium. :confused3

Pathetic.

We LOVE Splash at EMH times, it's always empty, not that it should make a difference to it being open or not anyway, that's kind of the point of EMH being a perk.

Starting to really resent TDO, the prices go up, the offerings go down.

I agree that if you've paid top whack to stay onsite you'd expect the full works, but the closing of one ride during EMH probably won't affect our trip next week much at all. We usually go as a party of 2/3/4 adults, stay at an Epcot resort usually, so we don't have to factor in a lot of things that those with children do, we usually have dinner 7-7.30pm, pretty much always a TS and then wander back into a park to soak up the atmosphere, see fireworks and maybe do a couple of rides but it's not to be all and end all. I'm more of a night owl, the middle of the day is quite a low time for me too then I seem to wake up again.

I also would pretty much never consider staying offsite, will be staying in a villa for part of our trip next year but I'm going with a different group and it works out better to do half Disney, half villa.

One last thing though, Tiki Room, what the...

We didn't even use EMH evening this time but this doesn't particularly bother me anyway. SM is getting old now and is probably due maintenance (FYI if they ever close it, I will stop going to Disney, it's my favourite ride!) but I think with the popularity of the ride, it's difficult to close it for a long period of time without seriously cheesing off a large number of guests. If this is what they have to do, then I'll take it. :)

It has an annual refurb in Jan/Feb where it is closed for a several weeks at a time. But it is probably overdue for an extensive refurb along the lines of the one they have completed on BTMR during the course of this year.

As with the reduced hours, do we have any indication it's anything other than a temporary measure? That news page seems somewhat light on details.
