We went on splash mountain twice today...anyway,'my iPhone was in a pocket in my baggalini and I had it in a case...then I got soaked....

I took it out later..and realized it is now stuck in headset mode and will not turn off...even with a hard reset... I have tried everything I googled on fixing the problem...but.still doesn't work.

So, beware!!

And,, if you have any ideas, please let me know.

Sometimes a reboot followed by a sync helps. It doesn't hurt to try, good luck!

Oh no! :( Too late now but I always put my phone and camera in a plastic baggie on that ride. You could look up on the internet suggestions for what to do with a wet phone. I don't know if that rice trick really works or not. Maybe you'll have better luck after it dries out. Good luck!

I always take large plastic zip lock bags in the backpack I bring. Everything goes.in there that I want to keep dry, cameras, phones, etc. Never had an issue.

Also if you can, I stop at the store on the way home and get a large bag of rice to help dry it out. And yes, it works.

For other guests that are planning on riding a wet attraction -Splash at DL and Grizzly at DCA. I understand you can place the phone in a plastic zip-loc bag that should keep in dry in case you get splashed. The article I read stated that you can use the phone while it is in the bag-- sending and recieving calls so taking it out is not needed. I have not tried this yet so I am going on information in an article I read. I did see an infomercial that used a food saver to lock the telephone in plastic. They did show the phone working while in cased in the food saver bag.

Good luck

Sorry your phone got wet. I would take the back off and battery out then place the phone in a bowl of uncooked rice. This is suppose to absorb moisture without hurting your phone.

Don't use it, don't try to use it. See if you can find a bag of uncooked rice asap and get your phone in it. The rice will pull the moisture out of the phone, but you can't use it, that is what messes it up even more.

My uncle was recently pushed in the pool with his brand new 2 day old iphone4S in his pocket, we did this right away and his phone was okay.

Good luck!!

After dropping my iphone in the toilet i had the same problem. Take a can of compressed air and blow it into your headphone jack

That's what I was going to say, but I think she's already tried things. :(

But try the rice anyway, and just leave it there for DAYS. Don't touch it. After days and days, THEN take it out and try to use it.

Got it in rice. It finally would turn off... I tried to restart. (know I shouldn't have and it looked fried... so immediately I turned it off. I found a meal with dried rice in it at the HoJos gift shop. So it is currently in a baggie of dry rice. I will leave it there all day tomorrow. ( and I made an appointment with apple for Tuesday when we get back. I'll make sure my DH puts his android in a locker or baggie tomorrow when go on GRR,,!!!

Thanks you guys!!! You are the best!

GRR has free (up to two hours) lockers to the left of the entrance. I am actually shocked that this ruined your phone, I normally just put it in my pocket and it is fine.

That being said, moisture damage can be corrected by turning it off completely and putting it in a ziplock bag with silica gel packets in it (the preferred method) or rice for at least 48 hours. Please note that the bag must be airtight, such as a ziplock bag. A vacuum seal bag would be even better. The sooner this is done, the better the chances are of fixing it. Apple will fix it, but charge you money, unless you got the Apple Care with accidental damage (although Square Trade is a better warranty for this).

thanks for reminding me to pack that baggy.

I am also one of those who takes ziplock bags to DLR and I know you are at DLR and not home but we have had good luck putting electronics in a bowl of dry rice for a day or two. It soaks up the moisture. We thought for sure my DS16's iPod Touch was a goner but it revived after a few days in rice.

Good luck!

This is absolutely correct! Saved my ipod this way after a dive in the toilet, but I waited two weeks before I tried to turn it on again.

Phones, cameras all go in a zip top bag. I always get soaked on Splash (my right side, every time).

Stick your phone in a bag of dry rice!!!!! QUICK QUICK QUICK! it works!!!::yes::

{a few of my friends with iPHones have dropped theirs in toilets and washing machines and used this technique and it saved their phones}

The rice trick works. We accidentally washed my son's phone and a few days later (after being covered in rice) it was just fine. On the other hand, perfect excuse to upgrade to the Iphone5.
