Splash mountain is a very long ride (as far as time and distance travelled). does anyone have any drawings or pictures of what the ride track layout looks like. i'm amazed how they fit that whole thing into a mountain and into a show building as it goes up and down so many levels. that ride is pure disney magic.

I know that one also amazes me how it is all fit in there.

The easy answer is...it's not in that mountain. :)

There is actually a hidden warehouse-style building behind the facade of the mountain where the bulk of the ride takes place. If you are lucky and get evacuated from the ride some day you might see it - I have seen pictures floating around the 'net, I'll see if I can dig one up. It's not much to look at - just a stucco colored warehouse-style building.

Isn't Disney magic great?

I haven't found a pic yet (will look more later on) but I did find a reference for what I was trying to explain, over at hiddenmickeys.org. You can see it at :

http://www.hiddenmickeys.org/WDW/MagicKingdom/Secrets/FR/Splash.html

Specificly, #18 which says :

"Splash Mountain takes place in a large, warehouse type building and only a small part takes place in the mountain. When first built, one corner of the large building was visible to the guests in the park. It was not noticed at first, and later had to be covered. When backstage, the building looks very plain, with the exception of the one corner"

There's also a big giant water pit next to the building that they pump all the water into. Splash is one of the few rides where the water is completely recycled.

Just wanted to add that if you go on the KTTK tour you get to see the water holding tank for Splash mountain (we stood right next to it) and you can see the big building it is housed in

thanks for the replies so far, i have seen the warehouse on the KTTK tour, but wanted to know what the track layout looked like INSIDE the building. everytime i ride it, i just cant figure it out, especially when you go up the first lift, seems like the ride is on the ceiling of the warehouse building before you make the first drop. would love to know how this ride works!

that's a cool piccy. I wanna see a map too.
