Splash Mountain seating question at DL

I've only ridden Splash Mountain at WDW, so I was wondering how the seating is for Splash Mountain at DL. Do you sit side by side or one in front of the other? Just trying to prepare for my scaredy four year old who says she'll try it..... After seeing the new Matterhorn cars I've told her I don't think she'll like that b/c she'd be sitting all by herself...

At WDW Splash is side-by-side with four rows. At DLR Splash is single sitting with six rows. With an extra big back row where a child can sit with a parent. So 6 and up to 7 in a log at DLR.

Space Mtn - which you did not ask about - is side-by-side at DLR and single seating at WDW.

Go figure!

The back seat is a great option for first time little ones on Splash Mountain. When my youngest was 3, on her first trip to DL, I would sit with her back there and it was great. It is a bench seat instead of a straddle-type seat. Most of the ride is animitronics and singing and it quickly became her favorite ride.

It was fun to see the progression for her...........next trip, she sat solo, but still wanted to sit further back, and then every few rides would move up closer to the front.........then would put hands up in the air and start posing for the picture during the big drop! Very fun ride!! :yay:

How hard would it be to get the back row for my dd and I? My ds will be fine b/c it's his favorite ride.

What do you think for the Matterhorn? I haven't ridden it since I was 18 (a loooong time ago). Will it be too scary for my 4yo dd to ride by herself with me behind her?

Really? Side by side would be great! I think she'll do fine if I'm next to her. She had herself all geared up to do both rides this weekend after watching them on Youtube.

It won't be hard at all. Just tell the front CM, when they ask you how many are in your party, that you want a back seat. They'll make sure you line you up in the right row. Very easy!

if you politely ask for the back row, the cm will usually seat you there

when the matterhorn reopens on june 15, it will have a new height requirement of 42 inches, so your daughter may be to short to ride.

Matterhorn is switching to side by side seats. It should be open by the time you go, but won't be the front/back seating anymore

I did not think they were going to side-by-side seating with the new Matterhorn refurb. Are you sure about this??

I thought it was 3 seats in a row, one to a seat, all with lap bars, with no more "2 to a seat". I also heard the height requirement is going up quite a bit. Can someone confirm this??

This is incorrect. Matterhorn is changing its cars to have individual lap bars, but it will not be side to side still. I think your dd4 will be fine, especially if you sit right behind her and just let her know that you're there. :thumbsup2

She's watched a Youtube video already. She knows about the Yeti and is fine with him/it. I just don't want to ruin her day by her being terrified on her first "roller coaster". She's already 43 inches, so height is not a factor.

I think Matterhorn is a good first "real" roller coaster!! Not too fast, scariest part is probably the dark lift up and the yeti. You Tube is a great way to get your feet a little wet before going! You'll definitely have to post to let us all know how she does!! Bet she has a blast and will be putting her arms in the air on the ride before you know it!;)

For splash my 4 year old and I sat in the middle seats. I just had my hands on her shoulders to let her know I was there and let her know we were coming up to the hills. She did great other then when daddy did not ask to move and she was in the front seat.

My daughters first coaster ride at DL was Space Mt she to this day loves it. 10 more days and we will be there!!! Getting excited can't wait :)
