For those going in January, Splash Mountain will be closed 23-27. This was discussed on an earlier thread, but was never really resolved. Allearsnet.com doesn't mention it, but the link below does. Dang. Test Track, Buzz and SM will all be closed for my trip. No wonder I got such a good deal on my hotel room! I'll have to watch National Lampoon's Vacation for a little perspective.

Sorry for your bad luck! :sad1:
Those who go frequently or who read these boards a lot know there are very few rides more in need of a facelift than SM! We will be there the week before you, and I'm expecting lots of things to be broken--the jumping water in the laughing place, for example, has been broken for what seems like years! I am happy to hear Disney is sprucing up the joint!

sorry to hear that as well. we were there last week-there were many closings for refurb-did not ride test track either-after waiting for 10 minutes in the fast pass line they closed the attraction-ok i've been on it before but you gotta feel bad for the people in line for 45minutes +++! Same happened on pirates-but i rode it the night before. my biggest disappointmnt was that the dinasoaur ride broke down twice while I was on it and it really took the effect out of it and I did not get another chance-but anyway I rode splash mtn twice-never rode it before and now I can't get that song out of my head-i loved it!!!

zip a dee do dah!!!!!!!!! :wave2:

OK, does anyone know. . . . does Disney ever go past their predicted rehab finishing date? I know sometimes they finish early (ice station comes to mind) but, do they ever extend it?

That's always possible.
They are quite good about hitting their announced times (better than most ANY corporation) but they occasionally MISS.

I'm thinking that Test Track was about 12 to 18 MONTHS late in its premiere and, even then, it didn't run all day, every day reliably (still doesn't IMHO).

TT is really a "unique" situation.
I'd not worry too much about the planned rehabs going overtime.

I know it is a slow time of the year but why would they schedule 3 major rides, Test Track, Buzz and Splash Mtn all down during the same period. It's seems like they could have waited on Splash until the other 2 opened back up. We will be there for most of the time it's closed and Splash and Test Track are our 2 favorite rides.

I know.

My husband is starting to get "pissy" with me. "well didn't you just pick the perfect week to go" "I thought you were good at this planning thing" etc etc. GRRR!

Oh well, I think once we get there it will be like every other time. . . . hard NOT to have a good time regardless.

Good planning allows you to choose between everything being open or low crowds. Good planning doesn't magically create implausible choices like "everything is perfect and no rain". :)

I do hope you are correct about the low crowds in January because that's the main reason we're going then. But, from everything I've been reading, attendence has been significantly higher than normal during the traditional "off seasons". I hope that January is the exception to that trend.

Well, let's make sure your expectations are calibrated. For example, compare what we experience in January to what we would have experienced over Christmas. We'll probably end up waiting for Dumbo for 45 minutes intead of 2 hours (just a for-instance). Still a long wait, but shorter than during more crowded times of the year.

I will accept nothing less than being able to walk on every ride! :teeth:
