Splash Mountain questuon

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to ride SM without getting too wet? It's been several years since I was there and I can't remember.

I've always found wearing a poncho works best. That and putting my feet up during any drops. Your hair and face gets a little wet as its impossible to keep the hood up during the big hill but thats about it.

Agree with using the poncho. The only time I've gotten really wet wasn't at the bottom of the big drop, but as we were going around the curve, not far from where you go back inside. I've gotten nailed there a few times. Maybe try sitting on the left side?

the problem with splashM is that they control the "wetness" of the attraction.

What gets you mostly wet are the water cannons at the bottom of the drop. If the cannons are off (like they are in the cooler seasons) then you can almost not get wet. If they are on full blast, and you get hit with it, then it's "Game over."

Never used a poncho and have never had more then a few drops of water hit me. I don't understand all the talk about getting soaked. I've never seen it happen to anyone and it has never happened to me. The same with Pirates. Now if you want to get wet, Kali River Rapids will do the trick.

Usually I don't get wet on this. The most wet I got was while our flute was waiting to make our ascent into it and just biding time, but you're next to the flute that is going to make it's big plunge, and if your flute is stuck waiting while the other flute makes it's big plummet, you will get soaked by the giant splash it makes.

But that's rare. Otherwise, just a few drops has been my experience.

You must have gone during the cold season. I guarantee you, you can get completely drenched on this ride. Last time I road I somehow managed to be in the right spot for every single water cannon to hit me. Just when I said, "Well, I can't get any wetter!" I did.

That was on a hot October day. I was actually so wet I suggested doing the ride again, because the damage was already done.

Really, the only way to make sure you stay dry is to wear a poncho or go on a cold day.

It absolutely happens. I got drenched head to toe on Splash a few years ago the first week of November. It wasn't even the big drop or the cannons, it was one of the smaller drops. The water sloshed up onto the right hand wall and came back over into the log. I even had water inside my ear that took forever to get out.

I have most definitely gotten more than a little wet. If the cannon hits you right, you get a good soaking. I have also gotten a good Splash (see what I did there) when coming down from the big drop.

Thank all of you for your prompt replies. I never thought about wearing a poncho on the ride before, so will certainly do that.

I am going Dec 14-17, if that makes any difference. I've never been this time of the year. It as always been in either early or late summer for me.

We rode front seat twice in our recent visit and I got the wettest I can ever remember. Also, if you are the 2nd person in your seat (so you are sitting on the right as the log goes down the hill) there is a nice little water fall following the drop that tended to get the people sitting on the right of the log pretty wet when we were stopped waiting for those in front of us to move down the small hill and into the final "zip-a-dee-do-dah" scene.

When I was seated in the third seat, I got more wet from sitting next to this waterfall for a brief wait than I did coming down the hill.

Ride in the back, wear a poncho, put a beach towel over your legs. You will be fine (advice from my mom who is a FREAK about getting even 1 drop of water on her!)

That's what my cousin and her husband said. They were teens courting at WDW, now they are in their 30s, had never gotten wet. They went in the Splash log with us. They sat in front. And kersplash, soaked head to toe.


On almost any wet ride I always have a problem with water sloshing up and getting the backs of my legs. It's really hard to make sure the poncho is totally protecting everything, especially the underside of legs in a boat, so even with a poncho I tend to get a bit damp. But as long as my top and rear-end areas don't get soaked I still feel basically OK.
