Splash Mountain closed Jan 18 - May 26!!

Thanks Hydroguy, I have read many of your rules and really appreciate all the time and effort you have gone to in preparing them. :worship:

As I have since mentioned we will definitely have a great holiday regardless of what rides are closed. Perhaps "devastate" was too strong a word to use! :rotfl: Our holiday dates are not flexible at this stage as we have already booked flights and accommodation for all stages of our trip to California and Hawaii. I am so very excited about our trip and I definitely won't let any small disappointments ruin our holiday. :goodvibes
Well you have several months to prepare yourself mentally for no Splash Mtn so when you get there I am sure you will have a great time. :)

I wasn't referring to the OP's planned travel dates as "off season". I was referring to the refurb running through May which clearly includes the peak season of Spring Break.

Your gentle reminders that no one should be disappointed about ride closures when they don't book their trip during the correct season are always appreciated though, Trey. ;)
:goodvibes

My nephews and my favorite rides are Splash Mountain and Grizzly River Run. I was disappointed last May when they were closed for our quick trip, but I just tried to think of it as more time to go on/get drenched on Grizzly. =)

Its interesting to see the two rides that broke down the most when we were there in August are now up for major refurbs... BLAB brokedown at least three times in 10 days at the park whilst Splash was twice (once when we were on it!). In breakdown I don't mean 30 minute reset but at least a half day down... Space was down once, matterhorn once and Cal scream once....

Please excuse my ignorance but which ride is BLAB??? :confused3 :goodvibes

So we will miss experiencing Splash Mountain at DLR :sad1:

SM is my absolute favorite at WDW. Will someone please compare the two attractions for me?

Hopefully, responses will indicate that SM is better in Florida ;) That way I will not be too disappointed that SM in DLR will be under refurbishment during our visit.

Thanks :flower3:

Well the OP said "March" which could be early or late March - so maybe off-season - maybe high season.

Even so, when a major refurb (4-5 months) is done then usually Spring Break high season is the high season which is affected. Which I am sure you already know. :)

Thanks hydroguy, yes, this is what I was looking at and what I meant by "off seasn".

I didn't mean that spring break was off season but that the overall time of the refurb is during off season. If they are going to do a major refurb for that long then that's really the only time they can do it and not run into Summer or Christmas.

Sorry for the confusion. My main point was that I hope the OP will have a wonderful time even though it's disappointing that SM will be down.

That's dissapointing to hear about Splash because it is one of our family's favourite rides, oh well we will still have tons of fun!!!

Bummed about Splash, but happy to see that HM will be back up for our trip! IASW too!

Phew! i will just barely make it before refurb! I'm going Jan 10-11, so even if it's cold I am making Splash a priority :thumbsup2
Thanks for the link to the post about all the ride closures. IASW will still be open, so still I get to experience the holiday version :) yay!
Only sad about missing HM but it's no big deal. I was worried about having too many refurbs during my trip but most of it is on stuff like the Rivers of America and non-ride things.

I think we're going to move our trip to January to be able to ride splash and avoid the main street paving...glad this info is out!

Looks like we made it just before they closed and are leaving right before the 18th so relieved. This is the one ride we like to ride as a family over and over.

Well thanks for all the great info. We are a little disappointed because we have been to WDW many times and always ride SM and it is definately a favorite and have only been to DLR once and it was closed last time as well. Like you all have mentioned, it will be a great trip any how, and to be honest the reasons we are coming back are Indiana Jones, Grizzly River, and Roger Rabbit (three of the best Disney rides ever), as well as the Grand Californian! How can you not have a great trip while staying there!:woohoo:

Excellent! I love Grizzly. Mostly excitement, vs Splash with lots of story, story, story, story, and one moment of excitement. :)

No one has responded to you. From everything I've read, Splash at WDW is regarded as better. It's longer with more stuff inside, and the seating is side-by-side which is nicer for families.

mouse planet is the only site that I can find that shows SM being closed has anybody called Disney for confirmation
