Hi everybody!

Has anybody ever used Spirit airlines? The rates to Florida are pretty low for March. Any feedback would be helpful.

Thanks!

We've never used them before but are using them this May because of the great rates they offered. We have friends that fly spirit all the time and say they have had no problems.

We fly Spirit all of the time and will do so again in just 13 days!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

We have never had a problem with them in the past.

We flew Spirit for our Sept Cruise from Chicago and no problems what so ever. There is no in flight entertainment, so you might want to bring headphones, or a magazine along with you.

I think we flew them once years ago and it was fine, and we are flying Spirit out of Detroit to Orlando again THIS THURSDAY! :teeth: The rates were super low, only $185 per person, not bad at all.

We have flown Spirit numerous times. I suggest you take a small snack with you. They basicly have beverages and pretzels. Our flight home in Dec was the absolute smoothest landing I have ever experienced. The only problem I have ever had with Spirit is their propensity to change flight times when you book far out.

:sunny: We fly Spirt ever time we go to Florida because of there rates. We are always on time (and if not just a little late). They now offer what they call snack boxes. There are pretty nice, the cost is 4.00. Some of what was in it: crackers, juice box, spread cheese, candy and a couple of other things. Didn't think that was bad.

We have flown Spirit many times. The only problem we had once was when there was too much fog in Atlantic City for us to land. We were detoured to Newark then bussed home. I think this was more an issue of a small airport, not really Spirit's fault. The airline was very accomodating when we had to change flights due to illness. We also found the employees to be very helpful and accomadoting with our children. You can even choose your seats online now which was not available in the past.
After flying with Spirit all of these times we only departed late once due to weather. We plan to fly again with them this March b/c of their great rates.

My DH isn't too keen on flying so much of the time we drive to FL, but when we flew Spirit for his surprise birthday trip 1 1/2 yrs ago he was hooked. We have been on time and even landed early twice. A.C. is a no brainer for us its less than an hour away.Drive your own car ,park and an easy walk to the terminal. Definitely no frills! But EASY

We have flown Spirit many, many times and have never had a problem with them. As long as we get good rates we will continue to use them but there have been some occasions when their rates have been outrageous. That's when we travel a little further and go out of Philadelphia.

We've flown Spirit several times to Florida from Detroit. No problems of any kind. I always compare their fares with Air Tran flying out of Flint, Michigan. It is a regional airport that is much closer to us with closer, cheaper parking and a small terminal that's easy to get around. Air Tran is always my first choice, but I will go with Spirit if the fare is low enough to cover the extra parking cost extra driving.

An example. We are flying into Tampa for our next cruise (visiting In-laws first) for $80 one-way, all taxes and charges included. We are using Air Tran rewards flights out of Fort Lauderdale for the return flight. They also have a great rewards program and the Air Tran Visa you can earn rewards on as well. That is how we got the freebie flights. Otherwise the tickets would have been around $200 each which is pretty typical out of the Detroit metro area. I try really hard to get it less than that.

Here's a trick you can try with Spirit and Air Tran BTW. Their prices go up as the plane fills. So if you are booking 4 seats, check pricing for flights for 1, 2, 3, and 4 passengers. Sometimes it pays to split the booking up. If the price goes up with passenger 4, but you are booking them all together, they will charge you the higher price. I found this out b/c I always check the price for one ticket first to find times, cost, etc. Then I put the 4 in and my lower price fare disappeared. Have saved a few dollars booking this way, but haven't had to do that in a while.

More than you wanted to know, I'm sure.

Have fun!

That is some really good info I had never thought of before. I will definately try it out next time I book. Thanks. That's why I read these posts!!!

We always fly Spirit! Once you fly out of Atlantic City airport, theres no going back. The only thing I would recommend is to fly out the day before your cruise. 2 years ago we flew out the morning of the cruise, the flight was delayed 2 hrs, and then they started bumping the flight. It was a little nerve racking. Otherwise we never had any problems with Spirit. We just got a great RT price of 150.00 for July. Couldn't pass that up.

We are thinking of flying out of A.C. in August. Can you tell me how much it costs to park your car there for the week? Thanks
