Well, good news/bad news. I've been waiting for Spirit's schedule for late January for DTW/MCO. Our dates are now open, but their cost is about $900 per person! I feel confident that it will drop, but now the real waiting begins...

Mind if we wait with you? :surfweb:
We are heading back to Disney at the end of January from DTW also.

I've noticed that Spirit Airlines has really changed it's pricing policy. It seems like the only way to get a deal is to wait until the last minute. If you want to plan a trip several months (or even weeks) ahead of time, the fares are very high. I was checking Spirit from Detroit to New York for November and the price is over $600 per person - outrageous. I'm finding it very difficult to plan trips using Spirit these days. I was trying to plan a trip to Orlando for January, and, again, Spirit was crazy. I found a great deal on Airtran and booked it.

:confused3 I checked for my dates at the end of Jan and all I get is a message saying flights are sold out.

I know what you mean about Spirit - their prices really fluctuate. I saw their prices today and thought, "Is anybody actually paying $384 each way"? I haven't flown out of Detroit before, but I remember somebody posting once that Spirit was low when it was first released, but that doesn't seem like the case anymore.

This is the first time I've had to buy 5 tickets (last time we used FF miles), so the waiting game is making me nuts! We live about half-way between Chicago and Detroit, so at least we have some affordable options (I hope!).

After posting on this thread earlier today, I sent an e-mail to Spirit Airlines complaining about this new pricing policy. I explained that I was a loyal Spirit customer, but they are forcing me to book with other airlines. The Spirit price for my days in January for three people is over $2100. I paid $513 on Airtran non-stop with great times. You'd have to be crazy.

I don't know if they will respond, but I'll post if I hear anything from them.

They stopped the service from CHI to MCO. ???? I never thought it was all that great, except for the price. They were ALWAYS late. Oh and I don't know what your dates are...but yesterday they had a DING on SW for 39.00 each way in Sept. :O

Yes, it's ridiculous. You have to wonder what they're thinking....with them, it's a game of russian roulette....or what's that other game, where you head toward each other full tilt, until someone pulls out.....

. . . CHICKEN!!!

My outgoing flight to MCO is $334 and My return flight is $134 that is $468 before taxes and etc.. person! That is outrageous this is why we drove to PHL last year and used Southwest we only paid $854 for 5 people roundtrip! And spirit at the time wanted $684 per person! They are making it so that people have to go to other airlines to fly! I would love to use them if they come up with some reasonable rates! :sad2:

There isnt even a direct flight from LGA to MCO in Jan anymore what gives???? Guess Im def. not flying with them prices are crazy.I laughed when I saw them
