I am struggling with this one for dinner.

Kids will be 2.5 and 3.5

We will be there in September - when it's hot and humid! I was thinking the 5:15 show. Is the dinner outdoors? If so, 5:15 would be hot and not very comfy.

Should we skip this one and plan another dinner?? :confused3

I would skip this and maybe eat at Crystal Palace for dinner, based on the ages of your DKs. Luau is crowded, not every seat is great, just not very kid-friendly for the preschool set. We just did this last August and my DKs (6 & 8) liked it, but it was by far not their favorite. Save the Luau for when your kids are bigger and will get more out of the show.

Have you done Sci-Fi? Isn't that wher you sit in car booths? My son loves cars so I thought he may enjoy this...

I don't know if I'd want to sit out there in September, but we just did this one in December, and my dd (5) enjoyed it, but my ds (1.5) loved it. He was so fasinated with the dances, especially the fire dance. But we did have a front row center table. We were so close we could feel the heat from the fire.

Sci-Fi would probably be a terrific choice. We always eat there and the kids really enjoy the novelty of "drive-in dining." The movie clips are not scary but the place is a little dark, but there is a light at each "table". Just don't book your ADR during parade time or you will have quite a time fighting parade traffic to get in to the restaurant! Have fun!:goodvibes

My kids enjoyed the Spirit of Aloha Show. We went to the late show. The fire twirling is really cool. The kids got to go up on stage and do the hula. One thing about SofA is that where you sit is determined by when you make your ADR's. The earlier that you make your ADR's the better your seats. I made my ADR for the show almost as soon I could make them and we were one table off from center front row! GREAT SEATS!:goodvibes

My two older girls loved the show, but my youngest (who was 3.5 then) lost interest quickly. With the age of your children I'd do something different. I've heard that Biergarten at Epcot is really cool for the family, we're trying it this may.

I think your kids will be too young to enjoy it,and agree the Biergarten would be something they might better enjoy at that age...save it for another times....or try the Hoop de Doo!!!

We went last Aug. it is under a pavilion and it really wasn't that hot, the performers were sweating big time.
We thought the show was just alright and the food was ok.
We would not do it again.
I would recommend the HDDR we usually go each trip and love the food and entertainment, plus its inside.

I would do the HDDR instead or Mickey's Backyard Barbque. HDDR has entertained my girls from the age of infants to 16. They beg to go every year now, it has become our family tradition. There is enough audience participation to keep them laughing, clapping, singing for 2 hours! The food is kid friendly and plentiful. It is inside and airconditioned. You will have a foot stompin, hand clappin' and gut bustin good time. We also did the luau and my girls thought the food was okay, the show was okay (they liked the fire twirling guy, but his act was brief and you can see a fire dance at Lion King show in AK). I think your little ones would be bored. The Back yard barbeque has characters and a cowboy doing lasso tricks and the kids can get up and dance. I have never done it but it sounds like fun, although it is outside.

I know this thread is older, but we (5 adults, 2 kids, ages 9 &13) will be on DDP and thinking of using 2 TS credits to go the luau at Poly the first week of June 2008.

Has any been recently? Is it worth using up 2 TS/person?
Thanks!

Our family went during the week right before Christmas, the food was good and the show was okay. Would we do it again, maybe. Is it worth 2 TS/person, probably not.

We loved everything about the "Polynesian Experience," and especially wanted to try the luau, since we were staying at the resort. With that said, I can't really say that it's worth two TS. The second portion of the show was fantastic, the first portion (and wrap-around end) were dreadful and the food wasn't good at all. If we had it to do again, we wouldn't.

We were just there Saturday. :lovestruc (I have a review on the review board too.)
I was just thinking I would love to have a bowl of that salad right now. :lmao: And the bread too.
sigh.....
We had a good time and the four of us thought the food was great. But I can see it is not for everyone.
