We went in October adn loved it. The food was great and the entertainment was awesome. The price includes food, drinks (including all you can drink beer and wine), and tip. We are planning on doing the SOA or HHDR again in June.
It is only if you are on the deluxe plan and have TS credits to burn. The food was medicore and the entertainment bored my 3 and 5 year old as well as me. We left early. Also the seating was cramped. To each his own.
We also found the Luau very cramped. We had our 5y/o twin DDs and they were less than interested in the show. In order to hit the ladies room - we had to basically crawl over another table and disrupt their meal. After the second trip we just decided to leave early and go watch the fireworks from the beach. We booked at the last minute - since it has a 48hr cancellation policy - we got in two days before while staying at the Poly. I agree that if you have TS credits to burn it is okay (which we did) otherwise go to Narcoosees or HDDR.
You'll get mixed reviews on the Luau. My experience was like the pp's. We left. But there are MANY people who worship the event. To each his own..I would recommend getting seats as close to the stage as possible. Try it, you never know..
Me and my wife did like it. Food is good, but it depends on your taste, nothing really special about it.
The show as well really depends on the person watching it, but if you do go, stay till the end as the show picks up and ends with a bang. If you leave early you will miss the best parts of the show as id does start of slow.
We just went & it was ok. The show was somewhat boring until the last 20minutes and the food was good. If you are using the dining plan & haxe extra credits yes but I would never pay for it out of pocket. When we go back we want to try hoop de.
We just went the week of 12-6 and we enjoyed ourselves. We were on the DDP.
The food was okay. Our seating was great we were seated on the end of the table near the stage area....but could see it as a problem if we were seated elsewhere.
Once is enough for us but it was worth trying.
My family decided to cancel the Spirit of Aloha from our reservations. We were going to go on our last night at WDW (that was the only night it was showing during our stay) and decided we wanted to spend our last night at the parks. Good luck with your decision.
