Spirit of Aloha Luau was a lot of fun!

How hot is it? I wanted to do it last time we went but we thought it would be too hot in August to be outside for that. We are planning to go to WDW next August and would consider booking it- its the only show we haven't seen- if it's not unbearably hot. Thanks for the info!:)

We went to the show last year and we enjoyed it. Hadn't been there in years.

Is the show to long for a 3 year old?

My 3 1/2 year old went in July and loved it! He loved the food, the music, and especially the "fire guy" who twirls the fire around. We went to the early show because it was right after his afternoon nap. He was in a great mood!

We are going in December and have done the hoop-deedoo twice and the kids asked to try it. I made the reservations early in the trip incase in cancels due to weather that I can fit two more table services in before the end of the week. I cant wait:cool1:

Iss this one of the places the kids HAVE to order off of the kids menu... The girls LOVE ribs, and eating them while they eat macncheese would be just cruel!! If they do have to order a kid's meal - is sharing our portion frowned upon since it's "all you care to eat?" May have to cancel...

We loved Spirit of Aloha too. Well worth paying for Category 1 seating instead of using Dining Plan credits. We were right up front too. Loved the dancing... the fire juggler at the end was GREAT! The ribs and chicken were delicious... and the inclusion of beer and wine in the price added to the value...

We don't do the DDP, but there was no kids menu that I recall (is there even any menu other than the drink menu?). Everything is served family style at the table - we all had the same food and everyone ate it (except my DS who is just stupidly picky and the waitress brought him at hot dog on her own).

and enjoyed the experience a lot. We get a discount on the prices being Tables in Wonderland members (20%) but even at full price it is worth the experience. The unlimited adult beverages are worth it for sure...we were feeling pretty good when we headed back to the monorail :)) but the food was great, I have experienced the original and the revised show and loved them both. I do miss the Polynesian drinks though...

We are 4 AD that went in AUG, 2010 and it was hot but it was a blast. We all still talk about it and we did like the food(except the dessert) was good. We are going back in March of 2012 for my DN's wedding and thats was what we are looking at for the rehursal dinner.

i know this thread is old, but i am so glad to read the good experiences at SoA!! i have rreally wanted to do it, especially now that we are booked at Poly. the negative reviews have kept me from booking. I have Cali Grill and Citricos, etc booked, but honestly those dont really sound fun with tired kids. Mine are even well behaved and used to restaurants but several 2+ hour dinners in a 'stay in your seat and speak softly' environment is starting to sound like a bad idea after days in the parks. I probably wouldnt travel to do it, but since we will be at Poly, it sounds lovely. SoA sounds like DGrandma and I can enjoy our wine and relax while the kids can enjoy the show. Has anyone been more recently? should i believe all the bad reviews?

So glad to read this positive review, we are going to the SOA show in April and I am so excited!

I am glad you had such a good time. We went in August of 2009 and also had a great time. Surprisingly like you we found that it was not to hot in the show area even though it was pretty darn hot in general everywhere else (maybe magic :)) It was our favorite meal of the trip. It is sad that it gets bad reviews but I think people might be expecting a "real" luau and it is more in line with like a Lilo and Stitch comedy luau..great entertainment :) The Fire Eater was AMAZING!!

I'm really glad to hear someone have good things to say about this dinner show. I'm really excited about going, but some of the reviews here have made me a little nervous!

Don't go. This is the worst rip off at Disney ever! We booked tier 1 and were seated at a table in the front where the salad was wilting nicely in the sun when we arrived. On a positive note, the bread was warm. Then our sweaty waitress came to take our drink order. She returned 15 minutes later with our drinks (table of 4). They do not offer to change plates between courses, so if you like a clean plate when your main dish comes, you're out of luck. Then the main course was delivered by our even sweatier waitress. The ribs were fatty and rubbery and the family style chicken needed to be ripped apart by me into sections my family could handle. I couldn't stand anymore so I talked to a manager and we got a full refund and left immediately. The entertainment was amateurish but the performers put their hearts into it, we didn't make it past the first two performances so it may have gotten better. I'm cured of ever trying a Disney dinner show ever again!

Thank you for the positive review. We are booked for this on our 10th wedding anniversary in September. I'm looking forward to it.

went she was worried that she wouldn't like the food or the show. When I told her that the adult beverages were basically bottomless mugs, she warmed to the idea. We went on our honeymoon and to be honest, she loved it! she thought the food was good, the entertainment was wonderful and the drinks effective :) We wish we had worn our wedding ears and the couple next to us did.

Some people like it and some don't. I learned a long time ago not to do anything outdoors during the summer at Disney...it gets a bit warm :)

I keep reading mixed reviews. We will be a party of 9 going in October for the first time. I hope we won't be disappointed.

Gotta try everything once.
