Spirit of Aloha in December?

I understand that the Luau is outside. If so, I am concerned with the colder weather. Do they have outdoor heaters, or would we have to bundle up? It seems that it would be hard to enjoy dinner & a show if you're trying to keep warm. Any body done this on a cold winter night?

We did it on a cold, rainy night last December (that week of torrential downpours!). We had the front, center table (just luck, no special requests), and they actually had to move all the tables back to get us under the awning because we would have drowned! I don't remember being particularly cold, although a drink or two didn't hurt the warm-up effort! I wore a sweater that night, but my husband and father-in-law had their coats off.

If you look here you'll be able to see the rain on the ground in front of us!

BTW, we're doing it again 12/11/03!

I would also like to know, do they reschedule if the rain is heavy or just cancel. I am planning on making PS for Ohana's at dinner time but after looking at Beth's pics the Luau looks great. My DS7 has always wanted to go to Hawaii and what a great way to show him with this atmosphere!!But we are going in December/January and so that is why I was concerned about the weather. Any input would help me, too!!!

Just a note(Last year we tried to go to Ohana's for New Year's Eve dinner and we never made it because it rained soooo hard. We took the bus to MK then were going to get on the monorail to the Poly, but once we got off the bus at MK we stepped out into water up to our ankles!!!)

This was the only time it rained our whole trip and we had so much fun in the rain we weren't upset. But I really want to try Ohana's or the Luau this trip.

BethC1952 - Thank you so much for the pictures!! They are wonderful!!! It reminds me of when I was in Hawaii. :D Now I really want to go to the show!!

The main reason I asked is the other DW in our party is "cold blooded" & has a hard time keeping warm. I want her to be able to enjoy it. But it sounds like you were OK.

I think I will go ahead & make the reservations. If the weather looks like it will be too cold, then I can cancel the ressies. (I understand I can do it up to two days in advance - so that would be plenty of time).

However, I will continue to pray for warm weather. ;)
