Following ATA cutting their fares, Spirit Airlines has just announced fare cuts of their own:

$128 for flights between major cities in Florida and Atlantic City, Chicago, New York (LaGuardia is $4 less), or Detroit ($10 more).
$318 between Denver and San Juan, Puerto Rico
$158 between Fort Lauderdale and San Juan, P.R.
$198 New York to Denver
$108 Myrtle Beach to Detroit
$148 Las Vegas to Chicago

(taxes will run you around $20 to $40 more depending on the gateways)

Prices are valid for travel Aug. 19 to Nov. 16, but must be booked by midnight July 17 online (book by phone and you’ll pay $20 more than the prices above).
Before booking any of these fares, do a quick search on Expedia or SideStep.com to see if prices have been matched or undercut. In the case of the New York gateways, JetBlue often came close, and if history is any guide it may soon copycat the sale (as may other airlines). Note, also that flights are not always non-stop, particularly the longer Transcontinental ones.
Go to www.spiritair.com and click on the “Point!Click! Fly!” sale for full details or to book.

Thanks for posting! I think you just saved me some serious money!

Do you know if Spirit issues a refund if your tickets have already been issued?

This fare is about $70.00 cheaper then we paid a month ago. They also have drastically changed our flight times.

Thanks again for the heads up and I'll be calling them first thing in the morning!

I was able to re-book on the web site and get the better fare without paying any change penalty and was promised a voucher for future purchase for the difference in the prices. Chicago to MCO for $121.50. Yippee. And thank you for the heads up.

I just wanted to post and thank you again for sharing this information! I called this morning and we were given future flight credits for 4 tickets totaling around $200. The sale has also been extended through midnight tonight, so if you haven't called you still have today to take advantage of it.

I guess I need to go plan another trip to use up those future flight credits!

I've been really impressed with Spirit (Mom swears by them). Also, remember that if there is availability in Spirt Plus, you can upgrade at the gate for an additional $40. Plus is their version of 1st class. This is a god-send for those of us who are, shall we say, weight challenged. If I'm flying Spirit, I usually get there a little earlier and see if any Plus seats are available.

Pete
