SPIRIT AIRLINE fliers: Just how BAD is it??

Let's put it this way, our plane had a tailgunner seating section....

Seriously, our plane was in very good condition. Like others have noted, we used the Detroit to Orlando Spirit flight. We had no problems, and our flight attendants were great. We liked Spirit so much, in fact, I just made our ressies for December yesterday. We love the 7:10 am direct flight that gets us to MCO by 10:00.

Has anyone taken any Spirit flights out of Chicago ORD? I am flying to Ft. Lauderdale and flying out of Ohare would be much simpler for me than to go all the way to Midway and fly on SW.

I personally like Spirit. They have a direct flight from Detroit to Orlando and they have a direct flight to Las Vegas and Los Angeles. And I can pick our seating so the kids and I can sit together. I think Spirit has the best price considering a straight flight.

I personally have no problem with Spirit. DH on the other hand will never fly on it again. We had 2 bad experiences with planes being delayed for no given reason, and he doesn't like the fact that they had no dedicated gates of their own. One time, they would make an annoucement that the gates had changed please go to such and such which we would, wait 1/2 hour, another annoucement to change gates. This went on for 3 hours. But it was only 2 semi-bad experiences and like I said, if it wasn't for DH I wouldn't have a problem flying them.
