Is anyone on the $9 fare club? Is it worth it to join or are the $9 fares pretty impossible to get?

I've been looking at that too. I think I'm going to apply for the credit card and get it free. Looks like the $9 is for a 3 month (?) trial, then after that it's $29 a year I think. Anyway, you only have to make 1 charge a month on the card.~:) ~

I am on their email list. Not sure if I am not seeing everything, but I get emails showing the $9 fares and indicating that you MUST be logged on as a $9 Fare Cluib member to BOOK the tickets. So I am just waiting until I see a fare I can't live without to join.

FYI: I just booked ATL -MCO (orlando) for a quick trip for $8.00 each way without using the $9 club. It was their regular ocho sale.

I belong to the $9 Fare Club. I've had some incredible offers. Obviously, I can't take advantage of all of them - I'm still a working gal :goodvibes

The other day, I could have purchased two roundtrip tickets from Detroit to Orlando at the end of November for $75 TOTAL. Another example is roundtrip (Detroit to New York) for two people - under $40.

I feel it's worth the money to have the opportunity in case the dates work out for me.

So it is definately worth it to join then?

Just wanted to make sure it wasn't something that only occured 2 x's a year!

When was this deal I must have missed it???:confused3

I was getting their e-mails too, but they aren't coming through anymore. Even though I check my account status and it seems fine?? :confused3 Anyway, I booked from Detroit to New York in the middle of January for 2 people RT for $54 through one of their sales. No $9 club for me until we can really use it. We have three kids, so that makes for no spur of the moment kind of travel.

Spirit Air does have some great deals, DH and I flew to NYC from Myrtle Beach this summer for $75.00. The only problem is they charge for every piece of luggage, and I do mean EVERY PIECE. That was a rule that started in between the time we flew to NYC and flew back. So on our first leg of the trip, we each checked one suitcase and just carried on the laptop. On the way back, the new rule had taken effect and it was $20.00 to check our suitcases. The lady at the counter said, if you don't want to pay the money, you can carry all of your luggage on the plane. And believe me, that's what everyone did. The only problem with that was the liquid rule. Since we were planning to check our luggage, we didn't have the small sizes shampoo, etc and they took all of our stuff and threw it away. We should have just paid the $20.00, but hindsight is 20/20 right? Anyway, just be prepared for luggage issues and paying for water, soda, snacks on Spirit.

If you check your luggage online ahead of time, it's just $5 a bag. And you are still allowed 1 carry-on item and 1 personal item (purse, brief case, laptop).~:)~

And also remember that Spirit no longer gives vouchers if the price goes down. Well they do but they charge $60 a ticket to do so! :rotfl:

And their customer service stinks

I joined the $9 club fare about 2 and half months ago. Usually every Tuesday and Friday they come out with their special promotions. And I have noticed (because I have been obsessive in looking all day!!) that it generally appears on their website at 3pm (EST). Anyway, the fares for the $9 club fare only are not snagged nearly as quickly as the regular special promos (non-$9 club fare). Almost a month ago, I booked 5 tickets from DTW to ORL for $84!! including taxes and fees. :woohoo: Yes you do have to pay for your luggage, but so what at that awesome price. If you pay to check your luggage online (you can do it up to the day you leave) it is $5 each way ($10 round trip) for each piece of luggage. Otherwise you pay $20 for each piece at the airport. Everyone is allowed only one carry-on not including a diaper bag, purse, laptop etc. Not sure if that changed since the person who posted above last flew Spirit. Definately beats driving with 4 little ones!! We are heading to WDW this Monday. party:

I know I don't mind paying for my luggage especially when you get such great deals. I scored the $.01 and loved it. I believe eventually all airlines will head that way. It is common practice in Europe to pay for all extras, drinks, snacks, and luggage.

So, are you guys saying that there are fares offered to $9 members that regular e-mail recipeints can't even see?

I've always wondered about the offers being sent out only to $9 members.

TIA

That is my understanding. You can't see what's actually available until you are logged in as a $9 fare member. You can see what might be available, but not what is actually available on any particular day unless you are logged in.

Hmm, I do not think that they have special e-mails for those only in the $9 club. I have not been signed in and have always been able to see what the specials were. But I think they may offer specials by checking their website every once in awhile, (not on that Tues, or Fri). I do not think they e-mail all of their specials. The awesome fare that we booked was not ever sent to me in an e-mail. I just happened to check it an hour after they posted it on their website on a Saturday evening.

I believe you can see what fares are available, but can't "access" or in other words try to purchase it unless you are a $9 club member. We've been lucky enough to score 2 great flight rates, one back in June and the other for Feb'08. In June we flew to Orlando for $70.00 total for both me and my DH. For February, we got a -$3.00 fare to Tampa which came to about $33.00 for 2 (total). We've had nothing but good experiences with Spirit. Our flights have always been on time, and a few years back we allowed ourselves to be bumped and therefore received 2 free flights. In the past when our flight rates have dropped ,we got a credit toward future flights. We're fortunate that our schedules are flexible and we can take advantage of their deals.I highly recommend Spirit. We always fly out of Atlantic City.

We also flew out of AC and had a great experience. We got a great deal in June and flew round trip, for five, for $187. We would fly Spirit again in the future. We are hoping to catch a deal for this trip or we will be driving.
