Wow, did we have a trip! Been back since late Mon. night and still not recovered... It all started with the drive down, got started a little lateish. We wanted to be out of town by 3:30 pm, but it was after 4 when the car finally got to drive off. So we tried to race TS Tammy. Tammy won. About 22 miles from the Florida/Georgia border, and yes, I am sure about that, 'cause that was the last road sign I saw before I called the GHP, we encountered the " Spiny Truck O'Doom!" as DH called it the rest of the night. Just as Tammy came ashore we had a Tacoma truck spin out in front of us on 95. 3 full spins, a front and back bumper hit on the gaurd rail, and parts flying off. Not an E ticket attraction! But DH had been paying attention and we pulled 1/2 off the road on the LEFT side... with increasing wind, rain, and a slight rumble of thunder. The driver of the truck was ok, but shook up, of course. The 911 person could not hear me on my cell phone, and of course we were still 1/2 in the far left lane... with still increasing rain, etc, etc... So ablout 25-30 min latter we finally see about 6 sets of flashing lights. Not sure how.. it was now raining so hard that it was difficult to see the truck that was in front of us. At least we were all off on the side of the road finally. Another 10 min wait with buckets of rain. And of course with all the water coming down you know what you have to do... Yep, and no rest area in sight! So finally we are back on the road, only now it is raining so hard that when I can't see the liscen plate of the car that is in the lane right next to us. I can see the lights of the car and DH can see the lines on the road, he says. DS still needs to find that rest area.... and a normal 6 1/2 hour drive ended up taking over 8. And I can tell you each and ever rest area between mile 22Georgia/95 and the Florida boarder. NONE! or at least none when it is raining so hard you can't see the exits! I did tell DS he could use the side of the road and take a shower all at the same time, he was not amused for some reason...
So the next day we sleep in as we were going to MNSSHP that night. (10/6)
It was great fun. Esp. as we were picked to be Parade Marshalls! OK, so were about 25 others, but still! And we did not have the camera, as it was still raining... In fact the first parade used the Marshall cars for the Characters and no one got to be Marshall. So we did the second parade. I am goning to be posting a begging thread for any photos of the parade that show the top front of the double decker bus! Thats where we were. DS was Zorro, and I was the Aurora Borelias, or "Fireworks" depending on who was guessing! DH was a tourist. But we have no photos! Drat it! Ended up with 11 pounds of candy by the time we got home. Would have had more, but I had a blast handing it out to CMs that were working in none candy places. Like tossing some to the cooks at the cafe in Tomorrowland. That was so fun! I guess the CMs don't get a lot of guests sharing their candy loot with them.
Any way , all in all it was a fun, if wet trip. We also did Food and Wine on Fri. Loved it! DH said he thought the food was better last year. I think he might be right, but some of it was still very, very good. I really liked the Mexico booth, the Chicken Curry in India, and a few other booths! All in all the whole trip went way to fast, as all visits down to WDW does!
