Spinoff: Walt Hated World

This one gets a lot of hate but I haven’t been to DL since I was 7. Isn’t this just a roller
Coaster?
I remember it as a slow ride with creepy animatronics of Hollywood stars. Did they change it into a roller coaster at some point before its early demise?
In answer to both of you, no. It was a dark ride. And during the revamp of DCA it was replaced by Monster's Inc. Also a dark ride. That one isn't the greatest either. But it's far far far better than Supercheap Lamos and actually fun.

I know this going generate this :duck:, but I’m another vote for Splash Mountain being gone.

For the record….I loved Splash Mountain, I really did. I have lots of great memories riding this ride throughout the years. But let’s face it….many kids today don’t know about Briar Rabbit and that whole story. It was time for it to go.

We are incredibly excited about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. She’s a great princess (my DD20’s favorite princess) and I know the Imagineers will not disappoint with the finished product. It’ll be nice for the current children to have a ride that they know the characters and the story :thumbsup2

I may get some hate for this, but The Great Movie Ride.
No hate, but my family loved the Great Movie Ride....we wish it was still there.....And after all, the park is "Hollywood Studios"....I think it fit perfectly....

Do you like the new ride Mickey & Minnie Railroad??

I would agree that the concept behind GMR was a better fit for the overall theme of the park. We just never warmed up to the execution of that concept.

I actually really like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. It’s funny, because I don’t care for the animation style, but the ride itself is fun and a real feast for the eyes at times. While we haven’t been in nearly 3 years, I believe we rode it 4x during that last trip.

I mentioned it in the other thread, but, both DL/DCA, Superstar Limo and Rocket Rods. I am embarrassed to admit I have ridden both of these rides. Rocket Rods I am further ashamed to admit I waited a full two hours to ride.

I have a special spot for Rocket Rods because it was the first "thrill" ride that my younger daughter actually liked. So much that we waited a crazy amount of time TWICE for her to ride it a second time. She even requested to ride in front the second time. She was 5 years old at the time. Hated Splash Mountain, Matterhorn, Indy, Space.

I think the idea of Rocket Rods was good but trying to shoe horn it on the People Mover track was the biggest issue. The constant breaking well caused well breaking. 😜

When the rocket rods worked it was actually a decent ride. It had to slow down for the corners because they weren't banked and your rocket rod stopped a lot even when the ride worked so the car in front could clear its next checkpoint. That they had to take the astro orbiter down at DL was a shame too. Structural issues.

I have a copy of song of the south and regularly screen it to my students. They are stunned it was ever made.

Alien Encounter and Stitch. the one time my DH and I rode it my Mom was with us. We did baby switch with my Mom and when it was her turn neither one of us would ride with her. It was awful.

No but the interesting part is...at least rumored that the original WAS supposed to be a fast moving ride, say along the lines of test track where you're trying to speed to avoid the paparazzi.......then while they were developing that concept is when the sad accident with Princess Di happened and they scrapped that idea and went with...whatever that....thing....was

Lots of things that I am glad are gone, but not a lot I just outright hated, but many I just think they were old, one and done, or waste of time and space
Alien Encounter/Stitch's escape-whole set up is weird. Just sit there and some things happen in front of you, neither experience were very exciting
20,000 leagues. Nice memories from the 70s, but by the time I was a teen in the 80s , I thought it was pretty lame.
I know it's nostalgic, but I think the Tiki birds attraction should go, as should the Country bears, and the Swiss family treehouse, All were very nice for their times, but that time is gone
I never enjoyed the first part of the Backlot tour, Just standing around, watching a couple of volunteers re-enact how they make a movie scene. I don't like any standing attractions though.
Great Movie Ride. I love movies, and the history of movies, but this was SO beyond dated. My kids don't know what gangster movies are, and have only seen 1 or 2 westerns, so they couldn't relate. Maybe if it was updated, but still would've been too hard to keep up. I LOVE the new MMRR attraction, so I'm good GMR gone
I remember enjoying Snow White and Mr Toad as a kid, but I don't remember any details, so I think I miss them, but honestly not sure why or if I just miss them for nostalgia's sake.
I liked all of the fake facades in the New York area that became Galaxy's Edge, but it was a lot of prime real estate, and I"m glad Batuu took over. But I do miss it. was just looking over pictures of our first trip in 2000, and we took some great pictures back there.
I didn't like Body' Wars, gosh it made me so sick the one time I rode it. I think it was worse than anything Universal ever did w/ screens
Speaking of Universal, while Jaws was fun at the time, and I kinda wish it remained in some fashion, Diagon Alley is the best themed area in Orlando, so I do think it was worth losing Jaws
I think Poseidon's Fury and Twister were complete wastes of time. Again, I don't like standing attractions, so that was a lot of it.
and the Alfred Hitchcock experience was very weird.
Splash mountain was one of my favorite rides, but not due to theming, just due to the way the ride combines thrills and story so well, I am VERY happy though that it's being rethemed to PATF, as long as they keep the ride mostly the same
They brought back Captain EO for a limited time, and we experienced that. It's SO like most of those awful, cheesy videos and movies from that time. It definitely needed to go.
I do get the need for slow, easy, sit down rides like the Navi river ride, but they should just be more rewarding. I'm good if I never ride that again. Ditto the boat ride in Mexico. they could be so much better.
Please update or get of the Speedway!

Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management. I like to think that the Tiki gods thought that version of the show was so bad that they personally sent the fire to the attraction that burnt one of the Iago animatronics to a crisp.
The Tiki Maynard shows at Disneyland topped all others. The rest are a poor substitute. Too bad he retired.

World: Body Wars. I like science and was looking forward to this ride, only to be really let down. Bad doesn't even describe it.

DL: Luigi's Flying Tires at DCA. You were lucky if your tire moved 5 inches.

Controversial 86: Tower of Terror at DCA. I will be the first to admit I was furious they were changing this to GotG: Mission Breakout, only to be proven wrong. It's my favorite ride in Disneyland Resort!

What 86 I am waiting for: Figment and Test Track. Both are in desperate need of a redo.

Superstar Limos was originally planned to be a thrill ride in the dark, pinning you as a celebrity being chased by the paparazzi. Sadly, just before it opened, Princess Diana met her end. So Disney did a 180° and changed the ride completely and sadly the resulting experience was a joke.

I don’t think it was going to be a thrill ride, more like a modern Mr. Toad.

When we did the Backstage Magic ABD in 2019, we were all given a timed FP for this new version (between 2 and 3 pm, IIRC). My husband isn't a big fan of the original Tower of Terror so he skipped it. To this day I keep telling him it was much more fun in DCA than in HS and that he probably would have loved it. One day we'll get back to CA.
