I wouldn't really say the Beatles are popular music today, but rather timeless (according to the person you ask).

They were the second best selling act of this decade.

I was just at a Christmas party where they played "Don't Stop Till You Get Enough" (I think that is nearly 30 years old already) and everyone cheered and danced. They also played "Billie Jean" to great reaction and that song is about 20 years old maybe?

A resounding YES. Some of his music with the Jackson 5 is already 40 years old and is still played today.

He was in the music biz for a long time and millions of people grew up listening to him. Those people will always like MJ music. The Beatles phenomenon is that they have the original audience but have continued to attract new/younger listeners too.

I would say yes, because like the Beatles, MJ's music was listened by many types of people young and old, from all over the world.

Absolutely yes. My DD hadn't really been aware of MJ that much (she's 12), but I took her to see This Is It, and he has a new fan after his death. She has the This Is It CD on her Christmas list.

I took her to show her how influential he had been and that the music she listens to and the shows she watches just would not have been the same without him.

Probably....Thriller is about 25 years old now, and most of the songs off of that album were still played on the radio even prior to his death.
