Do you allowed them in your house?

If not why?

I have two boys so we have Nerf guns, they have a blast with them. If I had girls, Barbie would have a home here. I played with her as a child, I had great fun with her!

With two boys I have more nerf guns in my house than I can count. We also have toy guns that are not nerf and my oldest ds has become quite fascinated with weaponry. If you show him a picture of a gun, he can tell you what it is, and when it was used.
My dd had a room full of barbies and the houses and accessories to match.

I don't have a problem with people not allowing their kids to play with these types of toys but I don't think it will make a difference, where there is a will there is a way. Before our first gun toys, my oldest ds used a snorkel tube as one, thats when I decided he needed the real (toy) thing to play with

I have girls. And about 3.7 million Barbies.

Also, the nerf gun is MINE!! That's what I use on them when they get out of line. :hippie:

I cannot think of a toy that we ever banned.

I could understand not having nerf guns in the house, but why would you ban barbie????:confused3

I only have a DD, but have had both in our house.

She has had Nerf guns since she was a little squirt and Barbies the same.

She still has a GIGANTIC Nerf gun that she got this Christmas from her uncle, and she has had plenty of other toy guns as well.

I didn't do Bratz though, HATE those dolls, they are horribly ugly and the clothes they wear are atrocious! But, other than that one thing, we will have almost any toy in our home!

I have a boy and girl and had and have Barbies, Nerf guns, and every other type of toy gun known to man! My DS's favorite souvenirs from Disney were the wooden guns and rifles he always got when he was little.

I refuse to believe playing with guns is the cause of violence or aggression in kids if that is the "reason" some aren't allowed to play with them. Or that they hurt people or whatever crazy reason floating around now.
If that is the case then better not let them play with Legos or blocks or baseball cause some of the deadliest injuries I took care of in the ER were from bricks and bats!

Can you explain your Nerf gun comment? Why do you understand?

I dont know what the issue with Barbie could be which is why I asked. This came from the twin bday thread and several posters were against Nerf guns and one poster said no Barbie or Nerfs.

I'm not that poster but I understand because Nerf guns can be dangerous. I don't allow them in my house. I don't have a 'gun' issue per se, my ds makes guns with all kinds of things, but Nerf guns or other guns that shoot actual projectiles...no.

Ok but if you use the safety goggles where is the danger, isnt it just as dangerous than to throw a baseball. That can hit someone as well.

Anything can be a projectile including Legos etc if thrown with the right force.

Both are allowed in my home. Not many Barbies have survived the playroom purges over the years, but Nerf guns are a part of many fun evenings!

Or books, or shoes, or baby brothers. :rotfl:

I would allow Nerf guns, but ONLY as an outside toy!

No Barbie though - she has too many immodest outfits for my taste. But I also found a tiny shirt for DD's Ariel doll!

With a son and daughter we have nerf guns and barbies. We all have our own nerf guns, actually. We have family battles, sometimes involving the barbies. :rolleyes1

Two boys here...no Barbies, thank goodness! :rolleyes1:rotfl:

Lots of Nerf guns, and Super Soakers too. A couple of wooden Disney guns, and some swords...

Like I said in the other post, kids will make guns out of anything. Banning toy guns is not going to stop them...:confused3

We have 2 boys. They have plenty of nerf guns and other toy weapons. I happen to love the marshmallow cross bows. They are lots of fun!

The boys haven't asked for barbies, but I played with them all the time as a kid. I have no problem with barbie.

I would try to have both in my house, regardless of the sex of my offspring. You need the Barbies to shoot at with the Nerf gun.

As for the shooting of projectiles...umm....we're a fencing family. My kids will be born with foam weapons in their hands.

Poor Barbie, she seems to be the target of many of these Nerf guns. I think you should all aim at Ken!:lmao:

:rotfl2::thumbsup2 I was reading this and thinking about my poor Barbies....we didn't even bother with the Nerf guns. My brother & I popped all their heads off, which was fine until we went to try and put them back on. The only one that we KNEW was correct was Ken....yes we popped his head off too. I haven't the foggiest idea why we were doing it. Then again, we were known to umm....put the BIG plastic Cowboys & Indians in the leaf pile fires and watch them melt. I'm sure our parents loved us...I actually don't know if they knew about that or not. :rotfl:

I just know we had a blast with it and spend hours doing such crazy nonsense.
