I have a picture of our family in this rainbow lighted striped tube (semi-circle) that you walk through. I have a picture of this in 2004 and DH and I in 1996. I know this isn't there anymore but I can't remember what it was or where it was. I think it was in Epcot.
thanks!

It was in the old Imageworks in the Imagination pavillion. It's still up there, but that area's been closed off to guests for years now.

journey into imagination....after the figment part you would go into the fun interactive area. I can't think of the exact name right now!

Look familiar?

Found it here: http://allears.net/tp/ep/imag2.htm. I remember the tunnel from my first trip to EPCOT in 1986. Don't remember it in '98, though.

OMG, I remember that!!!! It brings back so many memories of when I went when I was younger :cloud9: Just something about that, I really loved...

I really miss Journey into Imagination. It was my favorite EPCOT attraction. Dreamfinder and Figment were the best!!!!:thumbsup2

I remember that tunnel. I miss the original Journey into Imagination with Figment and Dreamfinder! I agree, they should bring it back.

Why is it closed off?

They had to re-do the interior of the first floor of the building to make room for the new Kodak Image Playground or whatever it's called. Also, the technology in the old ImageWorks was hopelessly outdated and just plain didn't work that well.

BTW, having been up there at some point since it was closed, :rolleyes1 I wouldn't precisely say "it's still up there." The building is still there, of course. Parts of the old ImageWorks are still up there, parts are not, some of it has been wholly or partially disassembled, some of the area is being used for storage, etc. I'm not sure it *could* be re-opened.

intersting- we have many pics of us in Imageworks as kids. I used to love the pins/needles where you put your hand in it and made a shape/indentation. We spent hours up there and I always loved the kodak photo exhibit up there too. My old CP roomie works as an actress in the kodak display when you exit the ride now. I'll have to ask her if she has heard any rumors of what will happen with it in the future. It'd be nice to see them use the space again for something.

Yup, it does look familiar.

And wow, does that bring back memories. I have a similar pic of that tunnel, same angle too. I took the pic back in 1989, during my Disney-moon!

Where has the time gone?

that area was initially going to be the finale for the kim possible world showcase adventure. the undiscovered future world tour used to visit there too

The original version of Imagination was the best - it had that same attention to detail that the Haunted Mansion boasts. Every time you road, there was something new to see that you hadn't noticed before.

You were supposed to use your HANDS on those pin forms? Hmmm. (rubs face in deep thought) lol

They should reopen the Imageworks with newer attractions that are reliable.

I also think that one or more parks should have a "lost attractions" exhibit on display that shows the things that have been removed or replaced over the years. It's incredible how much change has taken place at Epcot and it's really not *that* old. I think fans would find it interesting to learn about Mr Toad's Wild Ride and the deed that was "passed on" to Pooh's Hunny Pots.

However, the Yesterland website's pretty good as a memory jogger. He has a treasure trove of photos and descriptions online.

My first trip wasn't till 2005 so I don't know anything about this but it seems like alot of you all want it back. It looks pretty cool.

It is (was) really neat, but I also remember being very disappointed when we finally found it too. I saw a pic of it in a brochure and searched it out when we went on our Disney-moon.

I was disappointed because what you see is the extent of the complete tunnel. In fact, when you entered it you could see completely through if you were at the proper angle. The angle of the posted pic makes the tunnel look like it goes on further than it does. What you see is what you get.

It was still neat, I was just expecting something a little longer, and something you could immerse yourself in. But, standing in the tunnel you could pretty much see the openings at each end from pretty much anywhere.

I would like it if they would at least bring back the pin tables. Guess it wasn't the most sanitary of exhibits.

It wasn't quite as cool as it looks (because, as someone said, it wasn't very long), BUT no one's mentioned the coolest part: the tunnel could detect you, and the same color would follow you as you walked through it, even if you stopped or went backwards. (Or at least, when it was working, it did. It was usually working.)

I worked there and I don't even remember it all! Light painting right at the entrance (working counter-clockwise from the top of the staircase), then the tunnel, then the star-in-your-own-video that was next to ... what? I'm pretty sure it was a small art thing. Then the pin tables, and then the symphony was the last thing. Am I forgetting anything else? Was there a thing where you stepped on the lighted hexagons and they played music, maybe between the video thing and the pin tables?

And I'm sure all those things had names that I probably knew once upon a time.

WOW I remember all those! I loved the light painting...I used to always try to paint Figment perfectly but my stupid time would run out! :scared1: And every time I see the mini pin tables at a store by me, I immediately think of the HUGE pin tables at Disney.
