So would or do you let your kids go to pump it up? or an other indoor moonwalk b-day place?

Not a fan of our trampoline!! or moonwalks!

Had dd 4 b-day party at pump it up last Dec.. I would never have thought she would have gotten hurt, But 1/2 hr into her party she broke her arm.. Had 2 surgeries, 9 weeks in cast, paid $350 for party she wasn't at, $3000 in medical bills after insurance..
Yes I did sign a waiver for her to play, but not even a phone call to see how she was is what really made me MAD!!:headache:

The emt told us they pull 2-3 kids a week out of our locla pump it up do to broken bones! I couldn't believe that!!

wow! That's awful, I hope your DD is feeling better. I'm shocked by what the EMT told you! I'm not so much shocked that they have that many injuries as I am that they still do business if that's true!

My DD went to one Pump it UP! party a few years ago (I think she was about 7). I had planned on dropping her off, but when I saw what it was like in there, I figured I better stick around. It seemed really dangerous. Luckily DD is no sort of a dare-devil, but I'm glad the kids her age seem to have outgrown it. No trampolines or pump it up parties for us!

I see your from Ma is this the pump it up in Franklin? we have been inundated with bday parties from this place. the kids love it and it seemed very under control.

well, any kind of trampoline type device is just begging for an injury. I wouldn't let my kids have trampolines (they could jump on them at Gymnastics classes) and I really don't think they are a good idea. There are techniques for using them correctly and just random bouncing around, especially with a bunch of other kids on the thing at the same time,is outside my comfort level.

When DD was in K, we did PIU for her 6th bday. We invited her class, some neighborhood kids, dance group....about 30 kids. Expected 15 to show. Instead, we had 25!!! :scared1:

Luckily, I had checked out all PIU's rooms ahead of time and booked the one I wanted. Ours has room 4 options, I think. Each room has at least 3-4 "items" and none is the same collection. I ruled out the one that was like jousting and something else I considered too risky. Basically, I picked the milder room. No accidents.

DD has gone to more PIU parties than I can count and she's now 10. No injuries, except at one party. I hate to stereotype and generalize, but here goes. It was a boy's party and was boy-heavy. Few girls. The room had all the riskier play items. It was completely different from the "girl parties" we had attended at PIU and for that matter, was different from the boy parties that were about a 50/50 mix of boy/girl. This one wound up with no broken bones, but three very bloody injuries. I flat out told DD she couldn't go near the jousting thing.....It was an accident waiting to happen and since she's in the 10th percentile for weight, she was already at a disadvantage. :rotfl2:

BTW, we never leave her at a PIU party. If something happens, I want to be there.

My DD just had her 5th bday at PIU. We invited her class and we probably had 25 3-6 year old. I think there were maybe 5 girls and 20 boys, LOL!

Maybe it's their ages, but I didn't see anyone get hurt! They had a blast just running and jumping and sliding!

The boy heavy party was in 2nd grade, but had a lot of 8-12 y.o. boys. There was a big difference between a girl's kindergarten party and that one, let me tell you. :scared1:

I've heard of a kid getting a broken leg at PIU. It was a young girl just got caught up somehow in the slide.

My DS4 also was coming down the slide and hit the bottom. He tried to jump off it and fell forward. His legs came flying over his back sort of hyperextended. It scared him to death and I really wouldn't have been surprised watching it if he had broken his back. :scared1: He was OK and it was just a fluke thing.

Yes it was in Franklin..
The bigger kid room the moonwalk with the bubble inside that kids could jump off. She jumped and landed wrong on her arm.. I was in the moonwalk with her too!

I have no problem with them. Accidents can happened anyone. My oldest son broke his arm in the shoe dept in Penny's and than 3 years later at a birthday party roller skating. Both were accidents.

You cant keep your kids in a bubble.

:scared1:

I haven't been to a PIU but we just had dd4's party at BounceU which everyone loved. The stuff there seemed pretty safe...we've been there 4 times in the past 6 weeks and no injuries (except for 1 kid who walked into an air hockey table, she's OK). I was thinking about switching it up to a PIU maybe for next year but now I'm thinking maybe not. :scared1:

We love them and have no problems. DD6 had her birthday there, and i made sure there was an adult supervising each piece of equipment. Most of the injuries I have seen are from children using the equipment incorrectly. I realize that accidents can happen even when following the rules, but in my experiece it has been rough play, jumping off things that were not mean forthat purpose, pushing and shoving, ect that hasn't been stopped that led to the injuries I have witnessed at places like PIU.

We have been before and have come out unharmed-that being said I now avoid them like the plague. My oldest DS had broken both arms in the past 2 years and had a severly sprained knee-so I am more cautious now than in the past. We had a friends son break his foot in one and a parent that tore or broke something on one-It is an accident waiting to happen
