Can you uber from resort to Gainsville? Is there a better option? Reply like I have never once used an Uber in my life. Would need wheelchair accommodation.

To clarify, does the person need to remain in the wheelchair during transport or can they transfer to a vehicle seat with the wheelchair in a trunk or cargo area? Also, how many people are traveling?

As @gottalovepluto mentioned, it will be very difficult for you to find a driver willing to go to Gainesville because chances are, they won't find a passenger who wants to go back to the Orlando area. If a driver really wanted to spend time (and time is money), they could probably piece back shorter rides and eventually get back to Orlando, but there is no real reason to do this. They are better off staying in Orlando and picking up passengers locally. And if you need an accessible vehicle, your chances are even slimmer.

We just need to bring my husband's wheelchair with us. Two people...trying to figure out a way to get from here to there without renting a car. I even looked at flying from mco to gnv but its ridiculous. You have to go to atlanta or something, lok.

Maybe you could take a bus or something. We're talking about Gainesville FL, right?
Yes. I 100% understand renting a car is the "easiest" thing to do but I hate driving. Driving here where I am familiar with the roads is bad enough, but driving in Florida? On highways with 6 lanes? I want to puke just thinking about it. It terrifies me. Thank you all. Guess we will skip one or the other parts of the trip.

I did see that FlixBus is an option, and only between $12 and $22.

A few years ago, I needed to get from my Disney hotel to Daytona Beach. I didn't realize how difficult it would be to get an Uber/Lyft. Many drivers accepted the ride and then cancelled. One arrived and tried to convince me to pay him cash outside the app because he would make so little money on the trip (I refused). I did eventually get a driver, but it was stressful.

For comparison, google says that it's 57 miles from Orlando to Daytona Beach, and 111 miles from Orlando to Gainesville.

We use a car service from MCO to Disney, and our drivers have talked about their various trips diving passengers to the coasts.

I would definitely look into those types of services. You would have the ride and the price locked in well in advance.

There’s a lot of options of services. We have always used Orlando Airport Towncar Service and been very happy.

You don’t have to take the Turnpike and I-75… US 441 goes through Ocala and on to Gainesville too. Personally I’d just find an arterial road with red lights and Florida drivers more annoying than taking the highway!

But anyway, to echo others, bus might be the best alternative. Between students and seniors, there’s enough travel between the two areas to make that an available option.

You might be able to book a private towncar. It will not be cheap.
Definitely would be able to book one, but you’re probably looking at at least $350-400 one way, as the driver will have to deadhead in the other direction and be paid for that time.

OH thank you! I will look into them!
