Female Boston Marathon runner caught on Ring doorbell camera squatting and pooping on a homeowner’s lawn along the route.
Angry homeowner posted video on Reddit and debate ensued.
(Footage since removed but can be found on www.insider.com via search, I don’t want to post it here.)

For the record, there ARE plenty of portable toilets along the marathon route, at every medical station and more.

On the other hand, apparently “runner’s diarrhea” is a real thing, and when they have to go, they have to go.

So, where do you stand on this one - was the runner wrong to in someone’s yard? How would you feel if it was your yard?

I would not be happy if it was my yard. She should have cleaned it up if she couldn't wait. Same way dog owners should do.

I‘m sure it’s not the woman’s proudest moment …hopefully she made an attempt to be discreet about it with some tree cover or something. If you live along the route you should expect things like that to happen occasionally. While I wouldn’t be happy about it, I’d cut her some slack. Maybe the marathon committee should have a hotline you can call to report a problem like this and have someone come by with a pooper scooper to clean up….

Well, here is my 2 cents....

I've had someone do this in my front yard, early in the AM and try to cover it up w/ mulch. It was a house guest, and he never fessed up to it. I cringe to THIS DAY wondering if any neighbors (we lived in a development then) saw him out there at 6 AM like my husband did. Husband didn't tell me for 2 years cause he knew I'd go off the handle with this person when or if I ever found out It has been over 20 years and I'm still not over it. Just my BIL & my husband bringing it up causes me to get ticked off at the thought of him doing that in full view of ...everyone. (if you are asking why - I don't know, but he was a non-functioning alcoholic at the time so it's entirely possible he was 3 sheets to the wind.)

I've also had farm hands decide to go in our fields and let me tell you, you don't want to have the job of cleaning your dog up after they decide to roll in that. You just don't - After that little incident I had the guy managing our farm get a potta potty for them (they were not our employees or working for us directly)

So for me - I say no! Don't do that on my property!

It happens. Even in situations where a marathon isn't involved. I certainly wouldn't be overjoyed if it happened in my yard, but I sure as heck would NOT post the video. People get sick.

Nope, not at all. If you watch the Ring video, she was out in the open. Someone even walked into the yard and had an interaction with her! She then stood up, pulled up her drawers, and cut through the nearby bushes to run back into the race (thereby avoiding the person who had walked into the yard). And yep, no wiping, either!

I’m not a runner but when you gotta go, you gotta go. However, a yard? I can’t put myself in that position. I would have chosen other options, but that’s just me.

I would not be happy if I was the homeowner left to deal with human feces in my yard. And to think it should be expected is too much, imho. Homeowners have no say in marathon route, so to just accept it feels like a stretch.

However, I would not have turned to Reddit to show someone in an unfortunate moment. I’d be irritated privately. I’m so over shaming everyone in their worst moments. Our society is so cruel at times.

My husband unfortunately passed a man pulled over on the side of I95 letting it fly for the world to see. Sadly, the man was less than a mile to the rest area.

Well first, ew. Second, I don't care one way or the other except to say sometimes when nature calls, it insists. Ever since I had my gallbladder out, I live in fear of being out somewhere and needing to 'drop a few kids off at the pool' and there being no bathroom available.

If she made no attempt to be discreet about it, she should have just gone on the side of the road instead of leaving that mess on someones lawn! So gross.

I used to be a runner and there is NO way that I would have gone on someones lawn!!! I would have tried to hold it until the next porta potty and if not, gone in my pants and dropped out of the race. Going on someones lawn would not have been an option for me!

Maybe the home owner shouldnt have posted it, but the way I look at things is EVERYTHING is recorded whether I realize it or not. If I make the choice to do something in public, I have to assume its being recorded from somewhere and someone will see it.

I actually think it does, Dan! Cause I’m thinking maybe she could be one of those women who just won’t go in a port a potty, or maybe she was embarrassed knowing she had to do #2 (women can be like that more so than men, at least many of the ones I know). I myself don’t mind a port a potty, as long as it’s relatively clean. But I think if I really had to go that bad, I’d suffer through a dirty one rather than go in someone’s yard in broad daylight with hundreds of people and cameras around!

Thankfully, even at my advanced age, I don't think I've ever had to do a #2 in a porta, only #1. And that's no problem at all, even without a porta, most of the time.
