Spin-off of tat thread: piercings other than ears

Nope, just my ears. I'm the weird one who thinks piercings are sooooooo much more painful than tattoos. However, I've been thinking of going "dangerous" and getting second holes done lately. ;)

I think that some extra piercings can look cute on the right people. I was always too squeamish to do it myself though. I hate needles!

Advanced warning...this might make people squeamish!

I had my belly button pierced when I was 15, it was the worst pain I have ever felt, a million times worse than my tatoo! It was 9 years ago and I can still remember how much it hurt!

Then just three weeks later, I was on a water slide and it got caught and ripped out! That pain wasn't even as bad as having it done in the first place, but it sure bled a lot! Even after it healed, I have a scar and didn't want it redone...I did really like it though, I thought it was pretty!

That's why you change your ring as soon as you can. I haven't had a circle in my belly forever, I normally wear a nice spiral with screw on beads on either end, it doesn't get caught on much of anything. sometimes it catches on the drawstring of my PJ pants but that's about it. :)

They actually healed, I was surprised :P I didn't want to take them out, but I was talked into doing it so I could wear "pretty" earrings when I got married the first time. Regretted it ever since. And I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. I stretched them myself, from normal earrings slowlyish to the 00 gauge...

Really?? I would not have thought they would have healed at all. That's very cool. :)

Why are you afraid? When I took out my first one (story on the end of first page) I just got a pair of jewelry pliers, held one side and pulled the ring on the other side of the ball. It was easy and done in a minute. I've blocked out the experience taking the second one out, but I'm sure the same jewelry pliers were used.

I'm sure you could even just pop into a piercing place and have them take it out if you don't want to deal with it yourself.

Wow. I had my first ear-holes done at 4, they have never even thought about closing. Second hole done at 15, that one gets a bit "sticky" when putting an earring in, but no big deal. Third one done at 21, and that gets sort of closed in the middle, and can hurt a tad if I want to put an earring in, but no huge problem.

Quite a difference from the navel piercings. :)

This! They can and will help you change them or whatever if you can't do it yourself. But it's very easy to take them out, I like to do it in the shower because the water makes the metal slippery and easier to remove. In fact when I took my circle out and put in something different I simply popped the ball out with my fingers and slid it out, no pliers needed. You can also use needle nose pliers, those work great.

I just have my ears done once and I NEVER wear earrings lol. DH on the other hand had his belly button done in his teens (weird I know and he doesn't have it in anymore thankfully lol) and he has 7/16 gauges in his ears which while they DO look sexy IMO, I tend to get flashes in my head of him in his old age with them still in (wrinkly droopy earlobes and all) which cracks me up. Plus they stink when he takes them out to clean them EVERY NIGHT! Its like no matter what material I buy his gauges in (stone, metal, synthetic) it doesn't smell better lol...even though he soaks both the gauges and his ears with cleaner. I am just grateful they do not stink when they are in lol.

I got my belly button pierced 10ish years ago, but it rejected. Then I got pregnant, and I never got it redone. I may someday. Who knows.

I got my nose pierced 4 years ago. I researched ahead of time and went with a titanium piercing. No problems at all this time, and I love it. :thumbsup2

Next will probably be my eyebrow. I need to get in to the shop and decide what I want. If they don't carry it in titanium, they'll special order for me. After seeing how quickly my nose (that had been done for 3 years) got infected when I lost my titanium piece and put a steel in, no way am I getting pierced with anything else.

I also really want this (the spiral, I won't stretch my original ear piercing): http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g143/_ohnoitsingrid/piercings.png

I'm also toying with the idea of a few chest microdermals too eventually.

If tats and piercings aren't enough to make me low class, I'm sure my pink and purple hair will get the job done. ;)

I have 2 holes in each earlobe :goodvibes

Been thinking lately about getting my cartilidge pierced - how bad does it hurt? How long to heal?

Wish I could do a labret, but I don't think my work would allow me to have that...

As I recall, it hurt a fair amount, a little more than a regular earlobe piercing, but wasn't unbearable by any means. And mine took longer than normal to heal because I was swimming at the time and the edge of my swim cap normally tended to run right where the piercing was. :headache:

That's so neat...when I was having my back tat worked on recently, 1 of the other artists and I were talking and she has a dermal anchor right above her cleavage and I was like "I want that!" After my back is completed, she's my next appointment! :woohoo:

Tink went crazy over our tats on a grown-up girls only trip in March, and Aurora just loved my hair...

It's pink, blue and purple now. We're definitely scraping the bottom of the class barrel around these parts. ;)

P.S. That pic was at Jellyrolls, and as you can see...lots of fun!!! I suggest everyone go there at least once!

I'm totally with you! I've got my nose pierced, and it hurt so much worse than any of my tattoos! My tattooist friend said that a piercing hurts a lot worse for a small amount of time, while a tattoo hurts a little during a long amount of time. I'd take my 4 hour tattoo session over a five second piercing any day!

A friend of a friend had several, and they were sooo cool. I want 2 or 3, I think. DH isn't a fan, so I told him I'd get some of the other stuff done first, to give him time to get used to the idea. ;)

I can't find any with the purple hair that are appropriate for sharing on dis, so just imagine purple under/behind the pink.

Interesting. My nose didn't hurt at all. It was a mild pinch and then kinda achy for 2ish days. My belly button DID hurt, but I got it done when I was younger and didn't research where I was going as much.

i had pink hair once... pic here: http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/22/l_6411b6b18c6d4de58c9d55f872fc0bd0.jpg i sorta miss it. what was funny though was when i had my hair dyed black and blonde. another pic! :P http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/16/l_a909626e8c88a3c53d5cdf6ba9128b32.jpg had a guy stop me in a grocery store and ask me why i did that... and told me i wouldn't attract any decent men looking that way. :sad2:

i was married at the time
.

Yeah, but is he decent???:rolleyes1;)

Just ears.
I'm kind of dowdy in that I don't care for tattoos and I don't care for any piercings other than ears.

I have two holes in one ear, three in the other.

I have considered having cartilage done but I am not sure how it would go over at the office.

I find some piercings to be nice looking. My step daughter has her nose and eyebrow pierced and they look nice. She has her bellybutton pierced as well but has allowed that to close up because she said that since she has gained weight it just didn't look good. Her tongue is pierced as well - I'm not too crazy about that.

She and her husband own and operate a tattoo and body piercing shop. They both have multiple tattoos to go with their piercings. My daughter just went for her first tattoo this week - it is a good sized one on her ankle. She has her cartilage pierced and is considering her eyebrow.
