Speaking from the point of view of a ride chicken, how "bad" is Spiderman? I cannot do drops, physically or mentally. I read there is a 400 ft simulated drop in this ride. What I need to know is if I close my eyes, will it still feel like I am falling? I can deal with speed, jerkiness and stuff like that.

You won't have any trouble with Spiderman. Take if from someone who suffers from motion sickness and rides numerous times each year when we go. I just close my eyes at the part that you mentioned and you won't feel like you are falling at all. Ride it and have a great time.

If you can do Dinosaur, you can do Spiderman. They are different but similar in the roughing up aspect.

I'm the biggest ride chicken on the planet, and I had NO problem with Spiderman. I rode it like 6 times! Now, I took one look at the Hulk and Dueling Dragons and just about fainted.:banana:

Okay, so you are SURE if I close my eyes I won't get that stomach in my brain feeling? I went on Jurassic Park at Universal Hollywood 11 years ago, and I STILL remember how bad I felt during and after that drop!:scared1: I did Star Tours and Dinosaur with no problems and plan on doing the other simulators at both Universal and IOA.

I don't think any of us could be "sure" of how you would be able to handle the ride. I will say if you skip this one you it would be truly a shame as its a great ride. Honestly I don't see a reason why you wouldn't handle it even with eyes open. Star tours has a simulated drop pretty much the exact same thing imo.

I guess the way I read the reviews, it sounded like this was new technology that makes things seem very realistic. Maybe they were talking about the 3-D part while you're moving:confused3. I think I did Star Tours three times and it is not a problem for me.

I know noone else can decide for me. I have just been in the position for a real roller coaster that I was told there were no big drops. Well to that person, a 35 foot drop was not "big", but it was way too much for me, LOL.

I'm a roller coaster chicken too, but I still ride Spiderman, you'll love it and it's not nearly as intense as JP. Spiderman is one of the best rides EVER!

Yea I think the "most technological advanced" part is moreso the 3D that immerses you into the ride.

I also think if you close your eyes during the drop you probably won't even know you are dropping.

I am a huge ride chicken and I will go on Spiderman anytime. It is a fun ride-please try it. I think by closing your eyes the feeling of being dropped will disappear and it will just feel like the car is shaking a bit. If you can do other simulator rides-you can do this.:goodvibes

When the kids find it a little intense, I would just take off their 3-D glasses and they were fine. The only time I had to do this was when they were four years old. Now at 6 and 9-they have no problems and love to ride it over and over and over.

DH has real motion sickness problems without the patch. He has been OK on Spiderman, even without the patch. He might have been a little woozie during the drop, but he said the ride was worth it.

Good Luck.

depending on how well you can focus your attention you could always just look straight up to the ceiling. it does not move and is right there. :cool2:

AWESOME ride. i've never had a problem with motion sickness on rides but i don't think you should have a problem with this one. even if your nervous i wouldn't miss out on it. It's one of my top rides at the parks.
go for it! =]

RIDE CHICKEN HERE!

Please don't miss Spiderman....it's my favorite ride at AoI...

Yes - take your glasses off or close your eyes...it's a simulator....more movement than Star Tours but yes - a simulator...:cool1:

You haven't mentioned the Simpsons Ride...but I found that to be very similar as far as ....the 'drops' are only long drops if your eyes are open and you let the optical illusion trick you.....

Simpsons ride is my favorite ride in ANY park. (Please don't tell Walt - my heart is still at WDW).....:rolleyes1

But my point being ...if you are able to ride Simpsons...you should have no problem with Spiderman....

This one is an amped up simulator with lots of movement but the falling effect is mostly visual as others have said.

I'm glad that you're trying it! I think that you will love it.

We just returned from Universal last week, and we rode Spiderman about 10 times over the course of 4 days. On the last time we decided to ride, the ride messed up, it was still going but the video and the vehicle movements were about 2 minutes apart, it was a really weird feeling but we told the TM after the ride and we were able to get right back on the ride again without waiting. I was nervous the first time I rode because I have problems with a lot of rides but I was fine and you will be too. Have fun.

I agree...it is a MUST RIDE and one of the best simulator rides at the park. It was our last ride before heading home and it was just as much fun as the first one.

It is really cool with the 3D effects....you feel like you can reach out and touch the bad guys who've just "jumped" on your car. You feel the jolt of your car when they leap! But it's not intense, and I would imagine that if you close your eyes, you won't be aware of the feeling of flying through the city. The car doesn't move THAT much. You will love it!
