Spiciest food in WDW?

Than you didn't get the *true* Sambal. You need to make a special request. If you get the right stuff I promise that NOBODY would call it weak. It's about twice the heat of drinking Tabasco the way we order it. It would choke a bull.

But Tobasco is only 2,500-5,000 SHU, so even twice that still isn't very "spicy." The spicyness of sambal depends on the type of chili used to make it, and what else it contains. But from what I can find, sambal generally is not spicy compared to say eating a habanero or some specialty hot sauces (Dave's Insanity Sauce, for instance, has been rated at 180,000 SHU <--- Dave's is what my family uses to make wings (but just a few drops).

if you don't think Tabasco is at all spicy... not sure what can be said.

I've tried others and they can be spicy, but they don't really have a flavor.
That's my favorite part about Tabasco... it actually has a flavor in addition to the spice.

I love spicy food and have not really experienced any hot food until our last trip. I had the Peppery Shrimp at Nine Dragons on NYE and it was genuinely peppery and spicy. A little too peppery for me because the red pepper flakes overpowered the flavor of the rest of the dish.

Indeed. You need to specifically order the Sambal extremely hot. They CA do it, but don't promote it.

ate dinner at Sanaa three times and all times we asked for dishes HOT and both times they werent even close and when waitress asked we told her and she brought out the Sambal.... the chefs just wont make the dish hot while preparing it so meh drives us nuts! At home at an Indian restaurant if we say HOT it comes out HOT! our dreams are for a restaurant with actual spicy foods and not dumbed down recipes at Disney!

sounds YUMMY!!!! what was it served with? We have never tried that place

Not in Disney - but at Disney Springs at Blaze pizza they have a spicy red sauce. I got that last time and could not finish the pizza. Sooooo spicy.

The shrimp are lightly coated in corn starch and fried. They were served with veggies on top of spinach linguine-type noodles. I liked it, but the excess of red pepper flakes made it taste "one-note".

I know the OP said to exclude F&W but I have had a few dishes there that had a little kick to them. That's one of the reasons I enjoy going at that time of year. Otherwise I tend to agree, a lot of blandness. I will request chopped jalapeño at La Hacienda and San Angel. That helps kick it up a notch. Where's Emeril when you need him? :thumbsup2

I ate at Jiko last night and ordered the Sambal.
It was just a tad spicier than ketchup.

I asked for the chef, and he came out to chat. He said they no longer carry the ingredients to make the Sambal super hot. I past along my displeasure and he took note.

So, it appears the "good Sambal", at least for now, has left the building.

Well that's disappointing. I found Sriracha sauce packets on Amazon the other day, so that's my plan for now, I guess.

ughhh figures... we have reservations for BOMA which we will keep due to the variety of soups and other dishes but we are nixing the Sanaa. The food at Mara is just as tasty and will save us a chunk of change.

What's the one dish that gives new meaning to "Tower of Terror?"

has some heat to it. Anything else? Anything new? .
Morroco, Marrakesh - I love the lamb/beef vegetable cous-cous, it's not spicy at all till you request from the waiter spicy harissa sauce to drizzle over it to taste. I love spicy food and this hits my hot spot!

I completely forgot about this one, but totally agree on the Harissa sauce at Restaurant Marrakesh! It's been a little over a year since we ate there, so hopefully it's not gone the way of the Sambal.

I did a check for this, both on this forums and on Google. This question has been asked before, but it seems the last thread was 5 years ago (or my search-fu is off).

What is the absolute spiciest dish to eat at WDW? What's the one dish that will force you to jump into World Showcase Lagoon just to find some relief? What's the one dish that could have your breath burn down Expedition Everest while standing in front of Thunder Mountain? What's the one dish that gives new meaning to "Tower of Terror?" What's the one dish that can melt Elsa's ice castle?

I've heard that Nine Dragons' Kung Pao Chicken and Sanaa's bread service has some heat to it. Anything else? Anything new? My girl and I are planning a 2018 Marathon Weekend trip, so, please, nothing from Food and Wine.

Depends on what you consider spicy?? I haven't found anything at WDW restaurants spicy, but I'm from so. LA and really enjoy seasoned food. We take our own seasoning with us to add to lots of dishes.

We don't just like 'hot' - we like it to be well seasoned spicy too!

I think the experiences you've read about on this Thread points to one thing - Disney does not really do 'spicy hot'.

I recall having something at Tiffins that was spicier than anything I'd ever had at Disney.

You can find jalapeno peppers on Nachos at ESPN.

And I imagine jalapenos are on the 'fixin' bar' at Pecos Bill.

Besides Tiffins, Jiko, Sanaa & Spice Table may be some of the 'best' places where spice-level can be enhanced by the kitchen.

And a small bottle of your favorite 'blow your doors off' hot sauce would not be the strangest thing I've seen a person take along to a restaurant.

I concur with others... "hot" is so subjective. Any restaurant can make most things "hot"... but dishes won't typically arrive that way. Just ask for the heat!

Oh I get the well seasoned spicy. I've had dishes I didn't like just because the chef got heavy-handed with the spice.

My girlfriend hasn't found a limit on her taste buds; she hasn't found anything she can't at least eat because it's too spicy. There's some foods which get to her stomach, later, but we don't notice that for about an hour.

I'm Korean, and I say they arguably have the second spiciest cuisine on the planet. No one can hold a candle to Thai food, but the Koreans try.

My daughter can't even eat mild chicken from Popeye's, that's too spicy for her (I don't know what happened).

1) If you want to numb your taste buds for the next day, try any Durban dish at Sanaa.
2) THEN, ask for a side ramekin of PeliPeli sauce.
. . . this is the sauce that makes the Indian food HOT-HOT-HOT
. . . a small dab on your fork with make that bite of food bring beads of sweat to your forehead
. . . a nib the size of a small pea will make your tongue ask why do you hate it
