1. Make sure you check in at the spg window at each resort. Last time at the Swan it was at the far right of the check-in area and was marked by a sign hanging above. Not sure about Dolphin.
2. Have you asked for the upgrade? I know that sounds stupid but I am SO chicken about asking for stuff. I'm starting to get better. I called Royal Pacific and asked for an upgrade cause it felt easier to do it by phone where no one could see me!!!

However, she said to ask at check-in - Dang it! I have FINALLY in the last year started getting gutsy enough to ask for a complimentary fridge for my insulin and juice.
I would make sure that you are definitely at the spg window and then when they start to bring your name up on the computer, just say, 'Oh, are there any complimentary upgrades available to a balcony room during our stay that I could receive, my wife and I were thinking it would be so nice to sit and chat on the baloncy at night'?
By the way, Fargoman2 (Fargo - it's not the end of the world but you can see it from there!!!

- sorry - couldn't resist that!!), if you have any interest in attending any of the SwanDolphin sorority events that are going on around the same time you are there we have no restrictions on having to be a gal! Stop on over to the Sorority thread and PM Disbug for more info. Here is the thread link:
Sorority Thread
I seem to remember that some of the gals said Dolphin was pretty full, but that's been awhile and things change. One way of seeing what is available before you leave (so you know if you should even bother to ask) is to go to
www.swandolphin.com and check rooms available for that time. (I checked 7/17 to 7/24 and it said no rooms available, but often they are not all listed if they were originally assigned to a travel service such as dreamsunlimited, etc. There may be plenty of xtra when you check in).
3. Others have also sent an email from the
www.swandolphin.com website or the spg.com website (if you can view your ressie on it - mine can't be seen on there) around 2 weeks out and requested an upgrade. Sometimes they can then see the upgrade change right on the site later on. (You may want to check and see what you are listed at - you may already be upgraded!)
