Check in went smoothly and quickly - got there around 10am and walked right up, we had a standard (CM rate) room booked but we were informed that we were upgraded to a poolside room on the 1st floor - YEAH! Not only that, but our room was ready! They had also gotten us the King we wanted ;)

The room was wonderful, it was a handicap and had a HUGE shower with a removable showerhead that we actually liked better than a tub, lots of space, and a great view of the pool and landscaping. Mousekeeping was great, and we even got a cute duck towel animal on our bathroom counter the 2nd day (my first towel animal ever at WDW!).

Later that afternoon, after a day at Blizzard Beach, we realized there wasn't a remote to the TV anywhere to be found, I made a quick call to housekeeping and not 10 minutes later someone was at our door with another one.

We took the boat to Ft Wilderness for Hoop De Doo one night, to the Contemporary to grab the monorail, and on the way home from MK after EMH and they were running continously and a great perk. We also rented a sea raycer one afternoon and had a BLAST cruising around, though we had to head back 10 minutes early due to a late afternoon thunderstorm. Best thing about that was that the water got a bit choppy with the storm coming in and we got soaked, which to us was hysterical.

Everyone we encountered was great, we ate lunch at Roaring Forks once and had an appetizer snack at the lounge once before our late Hoop De Doo show and both were great. The Guest Services counter was able to get us a last minute PS for Sci Fi when we decided at the last minute to head over there, and also got us directions back to the airport.

The ONLY problem we had was the one time we opted to take a bus to MGM - it took over an hour to wait on a bus and then drive there, but I will say that snails were passing us on the way there because our driver was very very very slow (other buses were zooming past), so I don't think all buses run that slowly. There were lots of frustrating people on our bus that evening ;)

Anyways, DH and I LOVED the Lodge, and will def stay there again. It was a true retreat, and a great place to stay. We didn't have near the time at the resort that we wanted, I never even got to lay by the pool! Plenty to do next time!

Great endorsement for WL, we'll be checking in there tomorrow AM! I think I may be more excited than the kiddos to get to WDW...

So glad you loved WL! We've loved our stays there. Hopefully next time you will get to try the pool. It's so relaxing. We will be staying at SSR for our trip in July, and I hope we won't be missing "The Lodge" too much. We'll definitely have to stop by for a meal while we're there. It's such a great place!

I am glad you had a great time. I agree, the WL is very special. I love the boats that can take you so many places...so fun to explore the other resorts (Poly, CR, GF and FW) and a great way to get to MK!

We love WL too. We stayed in the villas on our last trip and fell in love with them.

If traveling with kids make sure you take the quick bus ride over the Fort Wilderness campgrounds one night for the Campfire sing along and free movie. Our kids loved this and it was free. You can buy S'mores kits for about $4.50 when you get there. FUN, FUN, FUN

Love the Lodge too!! glad you had a great experience. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. :goodvibes
