Spending the night in the Castle...

I was talking to DH about this last night (over some margaritas, so be prepared). So say your family wins a night in the castle  ...we were trying to figure out how this is going to work.

MK will close at some point, I guess it could be anywhere from 7pm to 2am depending on park hours & EMH for that day. If it's on a 7pm closing day are you trapped inside the castle from 7 on...Alone...unable to get out...with only your family for company...

What if you get hungry? What would you do for the rest of the night...after checking the room out? Is it going to be kind of creepy being in the MK all alone in the middle of the night (yea, we like horror movies!). :scared1: Will our DD(3) get over the fact (yes there will be crying) that yes we are sleeping in the castle...but no...Cinderella isn't here?! :furious: What if you forgot your contact lens solution in the car? Will they post a guard to make sure you don't sneak out in the middle of the night and try to ride Dumbo 36 times in a row? :rolleyes1 Or will they just lock you in and HOPE there's no fire?

Assuming you make it through the night...can you request late check out? I guess there will be no towel animals? Will there be a soda fountain in there so I can refill my refillable mug from any resort?

Well I HOPE I win...or someone else from these boards wins because I doubt I will sleep properly until I find out the answers to these burning questions!

Too funny!!! I had some of the same questions myself!! Not that I would ever win, but it is nice to dream about it!! Since my little princesses are now 20 and 22 I wonder what our chances are of winning??? :confused3 Maybe they will have snack/ice machines outside of the Royal door?? Can't wait to see more details!!!! :rotfl:

omg LMAO!!!!! well we hopefully will hear SOMETHING from those that win October 1-4! and hopefully in a year one of the 365 nights will be someone from the Dis....because now I wanna know the answers to your questions. LOL

There's nothing like margaritas to get you thinking. Personally when I drink margaritas I see    .

Anyway.......Dh and I were wondering how that would all work too. I would assume that the clean up crews would be there working at night. Would you be confined to your room? It would be AWESOME if they let you just wander around even if you couldn't ride anything.

just so you know, I am sitting here choking on coffee :surfweb: reading this because I was wondering, WHAT IF YOU WANTED TO RIDE THE STUFF IN FANTASYLAND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! :rotfl: :lmao:
I am soooo glad I am not the only one who wondered about this.... :rolleyes1
If( and that is a big if) we won, I wanted to know what snack bar was going to stay open for our after dinner snack
:rotfl2:
Anyone else got plans yet????

I was wondering all this too!! What do they do, lock you in? They must! They can't let anybody just wander around all night. So then they probably will have security outside the castle. Will they keep the MK lit up all night or will it look completely dark and creep when you look out your window? Should you bring your suitcase? I'm assuming they'll have a shower? Will they kick you out before park opening? I'd love to wake up and look out and see main street filled with people! I'm sure there will be a lot of rules and paperwork to sign before claiming this prize! I can't wait to hear how they will do this! At least one person on the DIS has got to win so we can hear about it!

I can hear it now...

Child: "Mommy...who's that lady up in the castle window in curlers and a bath robe...is it Cinderella...is it a step-sister...is it the fairy godmother?"

Mom: "Uh...no honey that's NikkiLovesWDW from the disboards...now come on let's go see if Dumbo still works."

I JUST had this revelation with my DGf yesterday..this is what I came up with...
It's a little apartment, so there's probably a fridge...and since this is such a big deal, I don't see why it wouldn't be fully stocked ;) But what if you needed something...who would you call? Would you be able to leave the castle at night and just walk around MK though? That's not very safe for the park...plus with no one else around, you may feel a bit weird and out of place... I guess you could just watch TV and go to bed... eitehr way, it's a pretty scary thought.

Note to self: don't forget my curlers!

And what pool do you use? Is it Bay Lake? What about pool hoppers?

Yeah, being stuck in what's been described as a "small apartment" for the night doesn't sound that charming, especially if you're staying at a Deluxe or Mid-level resort! Honestly, I'd MUCH rather have an all-access backstage pass to freely wander around the MK, go in all the secret rooms, see behind the scenes, but without any restrictions of a 3 hours guided tour. You'd have to have an escort of course, but nothing would be off limits. No secrets!

Also, if you're staying in the Castle, when's checkout? What if you want to sleep in??

Dh and I were discussing the same things. He said it would be a pain to pack an overnight bag to sleep at the castle. He's not a true Dis'er. I tried to explain that it would be very special for a lot of people (me! me!) to say that they spent the night in the castle, but part of me agrees that the logistics (packing/unpacking) wouldn't be fun.

Would the castle sleep 2 people, 4 people, or 6 people? Would it be like a little suite?

Also, I doubt you'd be free to wonder around the MK all night. There would be cleaning crews everywhere. But they couldn't really lock you in the room. That wouldn't be safe if you had an emergency and had to leave.

I assume they'd want to keep it a non-smoking room. If you're a smoker, you could be in for a long night.

What if you need extra towels or if you have another Mousekeeping issue? Would there be someone on hand to help? What time would "check out" be? What if you want to leave as early at 7:00 to get to an EMH at another park? There wouldn't be a bus to bring you there, plus you'd have to take your luggage back to your hotel room.

I think that sleeping in the castle would be awesome, but I wonder about the practical issues surrounding it. I hope that a Dis'er wins the Dreams sweepstakes and can post all of the nitty-gritty details for the rest of us to read! I bet that the decorations of the room(s) are first rate! I'd love to see pictures of the castle room!!

I can see it now.......It's late, I've got the munchies.

"Hello, do you deliver? I'm not sure of the address, but it's a great big castle, you can't miss it." :thumbsup2

...and can you use your refillable mug from a prior DW trip...or do you have to buy a new one for the Castle..... ;)

Ok, I must not have checked in for awhile or missed something (which often happens  ). Is there really a contest to sleep in the castle?! And if so, where do I sign up? That would be so cool!

That would be great to wake up and walk out onto one of the top balconies with your coffee :coffee: in hand and in your rob with the wonderful bed-head. Turn to the side and say hi to Peter Pan as he is fighting Hook in the old Princess Gift show or whatever it was called.

How many people get to sleep there? Probably just the usual 2 adults and 2 kids like most give away trips. My kids always try to figure out which 2 have to stay home if we ever won anything LOL!

I was thinking the same thing about the "you and three friends." There's 5 of us!

Well, I know I won't be this Dis'er reporting in...I can't even seem to get registered for the sweepstakes! I don't know what it is about me and Disney communications, I can never get anything to open past the first page of the newsletter, either. :(

LOL the visuals are great!

"NO! I don't WANT to stay the night in the castle! Please.. don't make me do it it's lonely and dark and they chain us to the wall with nothing to eat and they turn the air off and sweep around us while we're trying to sleep!"

LOL! However I have a feeling the winning families will literally get royal treatment. Probably food available (room stocked or something).. characters maybe will make appearances.. maybe they'll give the winning family a tour of WDW after dark and maybe even ride some rides? Behind the scenes tours..

I"d hate to think the prize is "ok.. you're allowed to sleep int he castle.. park's closed.. get in there.. bye"

:rotfl: :rotfl2:

These are the kind of questions our family think of. Are we weird?

I went to MyDisneyParks.com, to see more info. By signing in your email, they will send you updates on all the details as they release them.

Seems like I saw somewhere, or was it my imagination...that you will have a CM looking after you (on call or sitting downstairs?), and maybe it will be concierge style with snacks and stuff.

I dunno.

But I'm sure we'll find out sooner or later. We never win anything neat like this, so I'm sure the best we'll get is Goofy following us around "goofing up our day". My DH already does that (see my siggy).

My guess is that MK is pretty BUSY at night--CMs sweeping sidewalks, cleaning streets, stocking store shelves, getting restaurants ready for the next day, etc. You never see that stuff going on during the day. :)
