Spending my birthday in Disney! Oct 2010 PTR - UPDATED 10/11 TR STARTED

We'll be in Port Orleans French Quarter, assuming Disney doesn't move us around again (we were originally in Riverside).

What happened with Riverside?

I'm actually not entirely sure. I called to get pricing for two rooms there and had them hold both rooms for a week while I got the deposit amounts from everyone who was going on the trip. When I called back to pay the deposit, they told me they only had one room available at Riverside, but they could move us over to the French Quarter if we needed two. I was kind of confused, because I thought I'd been holding both rooms, but apparently had only been holding one. At any rate, we're not too picky about which part of PO we stay in, so FQ was fine with us!

MK: Are you going to try to pop over TT to see it one last time? I'm bummed about IASW--I think DD would have loved it!

Ak: definitely seems like it feel so much warmer than the other parks. Not sure why?

EP: Seems like a nice, low key day!

I will be packing extra sunblock and aloe too! The spray aloe is the best IMO. Good thing you got to see NKOTB three times over the last few months since they are taking a break!

Hmmm, that's strange. Did you have 2 confirmation numbers? Maybe the CM got messed up somewhere along the line and only held one? At least your still in Port Orleans and they didn't move you to a completely different resort!

We may walk through TT. There's not a whole lot to do! Depending on the line for Mickey, I may try to convince everyone to go for the photo op.

Kris has sunblock that you just spray on. It goes on clear so you don't have to rub it in. I'm thinking of getting that and carrying it around and spraying on when needed! Aloe is a must too! I don't usually burn but last year I was like a tomato! Lesson learned!

Have you heard the rumor that after their breaks, NKOTB and BSB are going to be touring together? Apparently when they appeared onstage together at the last NKOTB concert, they just wanted to guage what type of reaction it would get. We'll see!

Hmmm I don't know how that would be. I think I'm going to have to go download a bunch of NKOTB songs just in case!! Haha...hmmm start saving frequent flier miles (or maybe I will!) We could meet in the middle!! That would be great...both of our happy places (aside from WDW of course) together as one. Of course, these certain happy places are portable and wherever NKOTB or BSB are.

I think that BSB would probably be the opener with NKOTB being the main act since they've been around forever. I'm sure they'd probably do a song or two together. I can't believe you don't know any NKOTB songs! Blasphemy! Without them, there would be no BSB!

Hi everybody! I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend! It was nice to have a 3 day weekend. Mine was a lot of fun. On Friday after work, I went to dinner with my sister and Kris and then we went to see Eclipse. It wasn't bad! It was much better than the other two movies but that's not really saying much. I do enjoy Twilight and I've read the books but I don't see what all the hype is about! It's not that good. It's no Harry Potter.

On Saturday Kris and I went to the state fair at the Meadowlands. It was incredibly hot outside and I began to feel a bit sick because prior to that, we had gone for lunch (and a drink ) at Cheeseburger in Paradise. So being stuffed plus extreme heat plus spinning carnival rides = not good! We stayed for a couple hours and then Kris realized he lost his keys on one of the rides. After we found it, we got out of there and relaxed in the AC for the rest of the day!

On Sunday my brother had a BBQ at his house. I got to see my nephews and play with them. I got them water guns so naturally they turned on everyone and soaked them all. I even took a turn down the slip and slide! You could see their town's fireworks from their deck so we stayed to watch those before heading home.

Monday, Kris and I hit the beach. Oh boy was it hot! I burnt my toe on the sand, it was so hot! Seriously, I have a blister. We spent most of the time in the water and I am a little sunburned. Kris, once again, looks like a lobster!

So, Disney has extended free dining and it now includes our dates. Hmmmm...well being the planning freak that I am, I priced it out. If I were to keep the same room we have at SSR, the price is an insane amount. However, if we downgrade to a value or even a mod and split up into two rooms...the price per person really isn't that bad and doesn't go up much from where we're at now. I priced it with the quick service dining since I seriously doubt we'll have time for TS every night. We can pay OOP for the 2 ADRs that we have and use the QS dining for everything else. What do you guys think? I like all the space we'll have in the villa at SSR and am not crazy about switching resorts and splitting up into two rooms. But...FREE DINING! Help!

I have a TA discount but it's room only. I can't add dining to it unless Disney runs a special promotion for dining exclusively for travel agents (they did this last year). In that case, the room and tickets were 50% off and the dining plan was optional to add on but you had to pay full price for it.

I'm fine with whatever we do. I emailed everyone I'm traveling with to get their take on it. I think everyone is going to like that it includes our food but I don't know how crazy everyone will be about having to share a tiny room compared to what is practically an apartment.
