Spending my birthday in Disney! Oct 2010 PTR - UPDATED 10/11 TR STARTED

Joining in here too - looks like we'll be in the World at the same time, but likely with very different itineraries (given the differences in our touring parties).

We are staying at the Poly though, so maybe we'll catch you after your birthday dinner at Ohana. :joker:

I came across your PTR a couple days ago. :) Looking forward to hearing more about your trip! I plan on having a few Lapu Lapus at Ohana so I apologize in advance! :rotfl:

Thought I'd come over from my PTR :) If JetBlue is within $20/ticket and their times work, we try to fly JetBlue over anyone else. Have you checked Southwest out of Philly? We used to live outside Philly in PA, we'd always check Newark, AC, Allentown, Philly & Baltimore (though Baltimore is probably outside of your comfort zone!) In any event, we really love JetBlue. AirTran is my backup.

Oh, and how'd you get into being a travel agent? (If you don't mind me asking.) I really want to change career tracks (I can't stand my job.) And I think I'd a) be good at that, and b) I'd love it!

Hi and welcome! I have checked southwest but they're about $40 more than JetBlue. I think we're probably going to go with them even though driving to JFK scares me a bit. I just don't want to hit traffic!

I used to be a waitress and wanted out of that badly (I'd done it for about 7 or 8 years). I went on monster.com and careerbuilder.com and searched for travel jobs (AAA, Amex, and Liberty are the major ones) and applied to as many as I could. Eventually I got a call back, went on a couple interviews, and was hired! They really want people who have customer service and have traveled to various places. If you're good with computers, that's a plus! Good luck!

Glad to hear your SIL's mom is doing better!

NKOTB! How are your seats? Jealous you're going again! Ahh!! Can't wait to hear about it-- you'll have to share pictures!

JetBlue is great! I love traveling with them. I agree with the others who said to book a hotel near the airport for the night before/after the trip. It will make your life so so much easier.

October is sooner than you think!! :) Can't wait for the TR!

Hope everything else is good!

Thanks! My SIL's mom will hopefully be home soon.

I'm going to two shows, one in CT and one in NYC. My seats for the CT show aren't great. We're the section between Orchestra and Mezz but the place is small from what I've heard so I'm hoping we're not too far back. The seats we have for the NYC show are 17th row! :woohoo: I'm sure I'll be posting some pictures!

I checked the park and fly rates near JFK for that night and they're around $250/nt. :scared1: And we'd most likely need two rooms. Definitely not worth it. I get 50% off parking rates since I'm a travel agent so I think our best bet is just to drive in that morning...

I know the summer will fly by (it always does!) and it'll be October before I know it!

Hope all is well with you!

Hi everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all my mommy friends! :) On top of being mother's day, it was my nephew Jake's 4th birthday. Me, my mom, grandma, and sister all went over to my brother's for a little family party. That kid cleaned up on Iron Man toys! I love Iron Man so of course I was playing with everything too. :) He got this cool Iron Man helmet and everybody was taking turns trying it on. :rotfl: For my fb friends, there is a picture of me with it on. :rotfl2: We had a bbq too even though it was a little chilly out. He'll have his big party toward the end of the month, once Peggy comes home from the hospital. Hopefully then it will be a little bit warmer! Did anyone do anything fun this weekend?

Speaking of Iron Man, I saw the midnight showing on Thursday night. I enjoyed it but the first one was definitely the better of the two!

So I've been looking into park and fly rates around JFK for the night before our departure. :scared1: Everything is over $200/nt and we'd need two rooms. It just doesn't seem worth it. I did find out that I get 50% TA discount off parking with Avistar, which is a couple miles from the airport. They have a shuttle that runs to the airport every 10 min, 24 hours a day, so that's good that I'm getting a break on the rate! The only thing I'm hoping is that we don't hit traffic on the way to JFK but since it will be after rush hour, I'm thinking we'll be ok...I'll just leave a little earlier to give us extra time to be on the safe side. The flight I'm looking at is at 1:30 so we'd need to be there 11:30-12 the absolute latest. In a perfect world, it takes 45 min to get to JFK. I'm thinking we leave by 9:30 and we should be alright. What do you guys think?

I'm rambling on about this and I haven't even booked the airfare yet! This week hopefully! Who knows, I could switch airports and airlines by then! ;)

Oh, I got an email from Disney that they were having a sale on swimwear. I saw this really cute cover up dress on sale for $20 and you can customize it with a Disney character. I think I may have to purchase it! Too cute to pass up!

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

4 months (woohoo!) and 25 days to go!

Hi! Welcome! :) Where are you headed to those 4 nights before Disney? Just curious :)

Thanks for the tips on the airlanes and fare. I don't know if I want to wait that close to our travel dates to book airfare because I'm afraid the prices will keep going up! I didn't know that about the pricing with JetBlue, that's good to know!

Thanks for the welcome!

The 4 nights before, I'll be at my BFF/goddaughter's house north of Orlando visiting. We are planning a night out at Jellyrolls, though. :thumbsup2

For Continental at Newark, it what works best. That is not to say that it will not hold steady for weeks before that. The airfare should always be below $200 roundtrip (assuming you are going into Orlando). If you see it for that much, then snatch it up. If not, you can always book JetBlue, then check flights for it to go down and get credited for your next flight. Be aware their terminal (A?) was just plain slow as compared to Term C.

I checked today and the airfare of holding at $226, so I'm waiting still. I don't know if the advice will work since their is a Continental-United merger, but I'll wait and see what it does. :goodvibes

Too bad the hotels are so expensive! I hope you will not run into any traffic!! (One can wish :rolleyes1)

Cute swimsuit cover up! Which character are you thinking or did you get? :goodvibes

Jellyrolls! I've never been but I've heard good things about it. I've been to Pat O'Brian's in Universal and I'm assuming it's a similar type place. I think I may be making a stop there on the night of my birthday. :)

I checked the airfares again today and it seems they went down a little with Continental but JetBlue is still cheaper. If we go with JetBlue, we won't be flying out of Newark. The flight times going there aren't bad but coming home they're way too early! We'll be flying out of JFK, which is their main hub, and I've heard the terminal is beautiful. Plus, I checked how many seats were available and there seems to be plenty so I don't think I need to worry about the other people in my party not being able to book the same flights!

Too bad the hotels are so expensive! I hope you will not run into any traffic!! (One can wish :rolleyes1)

New York hotels are always a crazy amount of money! :sad2: If I run into a little traffic, fine. I just don't want gridlock! :scared1: I drive that way to get out to Nassau Coliseum for concerts and hockey games and it's taken me anywhere between an hour and 3 1/2 hours! And the place is only 50 miles away! JFK is about the halfway point from here to there so I'm hoping it only takes 2 hours max if we hit traffic.

I'm thinking of getting Minnie, Tinkerbell, or Princess Aurora. Maybe I should put a poll up. :)

I can't believe the hotel was so expensive!! Well, then it seems like you're doing the next best thing. I guess you just need to leave super super early!

Glad to hear Iron Man 2 was good and that Jake had a good pre-party!

AND.. OMG- love the coverup! That is just waaayyy too cute. I'd just wear that around, even if I wasn't covering up a swimsuit. I'm weird.

I would do the same thing. :rotfl: I haven't bought it yet since I just got a cover up from ON. But hopefully during next pay period, it'll still be available! :rolleyes1

Well, today me, Kris, Adam, and Alex all booked our airfare! We're flying out of JFK with JetBlue, as I may have mentioned in the last two posts. Our flight gets into MCO around 4:30. I wanted an earlier flight but they were more money. MK is open til 1 am that night anyway so no big deal! Our flight coming home doesn't leave until about 7pm, so we can enjoy most of our last day in Disney.

We also have a mini-van reserved through Hertz. Alex works for them so he gets a great discount and we have it for the week for a little over $300! :thumbsup2 It'll be nice to have it so we don't have to rely 100% on Disney transportation; plus we're planning a day in Universal and it will come in really handy for that!

So that leaves my sister and cousin Chris. I'm 99% sure Chris is going to fly out of Philadelphia and I told him I'd set him up on Magical Express. He seemed pretty impressed by it.

Everything is starting to come together. Booking the airfare made this trip seem that much closer!

4 months and 24 days to go! :)

Another quick update. I logged into Facebook this morning and since I fanpaged Vera Bradley, I saw that they were having a sale online via newsfeed. Well, select styles and colors were 50% off! So I just HAD to get my hipster for the trip. I got it in Raspberry Fizz.

Just one more little thing to be excited about! :)

4 months and 23 days to go!

YAY for booking your flights!! Your flight time is great- I know you wanted to be there earlier but at least MK is open late and you have a late flight home! You're going to love JetBlue!

GREAT idea about that minivan! I would've never thought of that. That's the travel agent in you !!

Loving the Fizz Hipster!! I couldn't survive vacations without my hipster. I have one of the older (bigger) ones that holds everything- camera, sweater, phone, tickets, lip gloss, etc. It's AHmazing! And I love the Raspberry Fizz color! Gotta love Vera!

I love seeing that countdown get smaller!!

that bag's really pretty jenny :)

Thanks! :) I love it!

I'm happy with our flight times. At least we don't have to wake up SUPER early to be at the airport. And when we get in, it'll be right around dinner time so we can eat QS at DTD or MK. I still haven't tried EoS!

It's good that we'll have it. I was thinking we could stop on the way to get some breakfast food since we'll have the villas. And my sister can get some real coffee!

I thought the hipsters looked different! :rotfl: I was ok with the mini-hipster, it was just tough to close with the stuff I crammed in there. I had to arrange everything just so. The hipster should be the perfect size.

Me too!

:yay: for booking your flight! Your bag is so bright and colorful!! :goodvibes I think our trips are going to be here quickly because I bet the summer is going to fly! :thumbsup2

My bag was delivered yesterday, I love it! And I think so too. That's why I love planning trips in the fall. Summers always fly by and before you know it, it's Labor Day and almost time for our trips! :)

Booking the airfare always makes the trip seem so "real" (Probably because of the non-refundable tickets!)

Great that you've got the minivan, especiallly for your US day!

And I love your VB... so pretty! I may have to drink the cool-aide... ;)
