When I called the Target credit card (red card) department, the lady informed me that if I applied for a credit card to get the 5% discount and say, for example, I only received a $200 limit, that I could still spend beyond that dollar threshold and receive the 5% discount on the entire purchase by paying with an alternative payment form.
To my question: can anybody validate this through their experiences? I'd like to buy $3,000 or so of disney gift cards to pay DVC dues and pay for my upcoming trip and want to make sure that I'll get 5% off $3,000, not just $200.
Side question: any recommendations on the max cards I should buy per transaction (as opposed to buying $3,000 in one shot).
