This is our first trip to Disney. How much spending money do you consider a decent amount to take along - excluding the resort, car, tickets, etc. I want to make sure I have enough money for food and souvenirs. There will be 5 of us - me, dh, dd 5yrs, dd 13 yrs, dd's friend 14 yrs old.

for our family of four, we estimate $100/day for food and stuff... and usually come close to that, some days exceeding it, others coming in lower... we always have our credit card for anything above that (i.e. hood dee doo revue, which i highly recommend btw)...

if you want to get a close to the penny figure, head over to www.allearsnet.com and check out the menus/prices... we prefer to be a bit "looser" when we are on vacation than when at home...

I would budget $125-$150/day for food and another $50/person (entire trip) for souvenirs.

HI

not sure if this will help you as this is our first "real trip" to WDW also...( last year we went to MK for 1 day, were of property etc- and we had no CLUE about anything)
we are going for 6 days...we are planning to take along $1500 in cash /cc's and we have a $303 room credit at CR - so ours comes out to around $250 a day for family of 4. DH, ME, dd's 13 & 5.
i have been told this is very generous, but like another poster said - we alos like to be free on vacation- if anyone wants something they can have it. we have 4 sit down dinners, the rest will be counter service.
and i am not looking for flames...obvisously my kids cant buy a 200$ sovie, but they can or will get anything within reason.

Just like Misty89, we are pretty generous when we go to WDW (although she is a little more generous - I think I'll go with her next time :D ).

We are a family of 5 & budget at least $200 a day. This DOES NOT include souvenir money though. We each have our own Disney $'s for this. Our budget is pretty much for food & snacks only. We have AP's, so our tickets are paid for. Sometimes we do a sit down meal, sometimes counter service.

We always have snacks in our room when we are in a regular hotel room, but when we move over to OKW we have a 2BR with a full size kitchen, therefore, we don't spend as much on food all the time - we eat breakfast in every day, lunch when we're at the pool & a few dinners (spaghetti or frozen pizza) in the room.

I'd be generous & take at least $200/day for the 5 of you. If you don't use it you can always come home with it. You don't have to leave it there! ;)

I'm taking 2 kids, 9 and 12 to WDW next week. I'm budgeting $100.00 a day, for the 3 of us, for just food. I figure 3 meals a day and snacks, drinks, ice cream ect. Maybe on certain days we won't spend that much but we will be going to a least 1 character meal so might go over that day.

Then I have $200 for souvenirs. I have a change jar I cash in just before the trip. That money is for tipping. Sky cap, shuttle driver, towncar driver, servers, mousekeeping ect. So usually I have $150-225 for these type of things. Tipping can get quite expensive.

Never say never about pulling them out of high school for a few days. We have taken our oldest DD out & she is still one of the top students in her class of 500!

Class of 500, just wanted to say that when I started kind. there were 12 yes 12 kids and we grad. with 12. 8 were the same from k. we had about 300 kids from k-12 and 425 in the town where I lived. Just thought that was funny. LOL

That is funny - we live in a very large school district. There are over 2000 kids in the high school.
