Hi all!

Trying to budget and plan for our first WDW vacation and trying to get an idea of how much to set aside for spending money, tips etc.

We'll be there for 5 days, are on the dining plan so I figure i'll need to set aside some money for tips for that & housekeeping but I KNOW there will be a billion things that will come up and syphon money out of my bank account, aside from my kids begging for everything they see :rotfl:

Can anyone help me out with what to expect in terms of a *reasonable* amount to expect to spend daily at WDW?

Thanks in advance :thumbsup2

Set a budget for souvenirs so that you don't overspend. This amountis open to whatever you feel comfortable spending.

Check the menus on allers.net for prices wherever you're eating. Calculate an approximate tip in the range of 15%-20% of the totals.

Add another $10 per day for misc. spending...things you forgot to bring, emergency items and such.

Plan tips for the people who handle your bags ($1-$2/bag) at the airport, on ME and at the resorts. If you valet park, plan to tip the valets ($2-$5). People who tip mousekeeping usually leave $1-$2 per person per night.

I have 2 kids. Our first year spent more than I wanted on souvenirs. We then read about away to save money in this department. For the next couple years we made a list of the "I want this" items. At the end of the trip we go to World of Disney and they go through their list. Most of it they didn't want anymore. The impulse/urge was gone. Now them knowing the system for years we don't even write it down. They don't ask, and if they do we tell them to remember it so shopping day.

You said you are on the dinning plan with comes with a snack credit. Let them pick out their snack which in its own will be special.

When we are not on the dinnnig plan I budget $100/day. We eat breakfast in the room. The money pays for QS lunch and dinner. I only walk into the park with the $100. At the end whatever money is left is what we have for souvenirs. We might eat 1-2 sit down meals a trp. I budget an extra $100/meal for those since they are usually Character Meals.

I would suggest giving your kids a set amount or a gift card for souvenirs and when its gone its gone! My kids did well with that! My hubby and I bought each of them a treat a day also. Tips will add up and some random things that maybe you forgot I would say about 25 dollars a day.

Our family sets aside 100.00 a day for non dining costs. We take 50.00 in singles for miscellaneous tips (non dining), each child gets 100.00 or the week. When it is gone it is gone. We have not come back yet wishing we had taken more.
