Spending gift cards on boat!

I was going to buy mine at Target to save 5%, what happens if you don't use all of the cards up?

You're funny!!!:lmao: However, if you have applied the cards to your onboard account and don't spend it all, they put what's left back on the gift cards. So don't throw them away.

Thanks everyone! Where us the best place to get these gift cards?

I have gotten them at target, meijer, Walgreens. Almost any place you see a gift card display. Some are set amounts and some you can determine how much to load. Way easier to carry around 1x$300 than 6x $50

Target is the way to go because of the 5% discount. You can also call the cruise line reservation number prior to your cruise and have them apply any gift cards to your Onboard credit. It's a nice way to budget ahead of time!!!!

with the onboard accounts, does every person have one or the cabin as a whole? it would be great if the kids could have theirs and when it's gone it's gone!

Each KTTW card can have it's own back up (whether a credit card or cash), but there's no way to set up gift cards specific to each individual KTTW card.

So, mom and dad could have their KTTW cards backed up by a credit card, while the kids KTTW cards could be backed up by cash. But the "cash" pool is accessible to all of the kids.

I called Disney about gift cards and they said they could be used to pay for anything-- including gratuities-- at any time on the ship.

I was able to apply a gift card just to my KTTW card on our cruise in January. I don't know if that's because I'm an adult, but when boarding, I set my card up as cash, then once we boarded, I went to guest services and had them apply an amount of my gift card to my KTTW card. It was no problem.

I wouldn't think that the KTTW cards could be set up to cut them off when they were out of cash, could they? Would any overage just become a debit the parents would have to pay?

You can also buy really cute DCL logo ones in the gift shops onboard - I think you can apply any amount to these cards as opposed to the usual $25, $50 ones they sell at Target.

I know at the Disney Store (either in person or online) you can set the amount you want on the card up to (I believe) $1500. You can also reload the cards unlike those bought elsewhere. Makes it nice so you only have to keep track of one card rather than tons of them in case of refunds.

Technically, yes. You apply them to your onboard account and then your KTTW card deducts from your balance. But I've never heard of anyone successfully using a gift card to pay for a smoothie (ie, handing the bartender a gift card) or anything else other than at the shops. Doesn't mean it's never happened, of course, but I've never heard or seen it. However, I HAVE used a gift card to pay in the shops. I give them to my kids to use instead of their KTTW.
