Have you spent (or are you planning) a birthday in the World? If so, was (is) it for your birthday or someone else's? Which park(s) did you go to (or plan to go to)? Did you do anything special or different than any other day at the World?

Tell us about your experience with spending an extra special day in the World!

For my daughter's 10th birthday we booked breakfast at Cinderella's Castle. We stopped at the Town Hall at the entrance to get our free WDW "It's My Birthday" button. The CM also made the phone on the counter ring and told my daughter she had a very important phone call....it was Goofy wishing her a Happy Birthday (pre-recorded message). My daughter was totally shocked and amazed.

We had Dreams Unlimited note on our PS that it was my daughter's birthday. When we arrived for breakfast the table was decorated with streamers and Mickey confetti.
All of the princesses and characters gave her very special attention when they came by.

The coolest thing was our server. She gave my daughter a big handful of the Mickey Head shaped confetti (made of aluminum or something like that). She explained to my daughter that she should drop one on every attraction that she rode that day that she one day wished to return to. My daughter had the BEST time dropping a "Mickey Head confetti" on each of her favorite attractions. It was cute because she had to pick the absolute PERFECT time to drop it and if she forgot during the excitement of a ride we HAD to ride it again! It was the greatest day!

Also when riding some of the attractions the CMs would announce to everyone it was her birthday and offer to let us ride again without waiting in line again!

Please try to get the birthday person a "Guest of Honor Badge" too. Then everyone including characters were calling her by name and announcing her name over the loud speakers. She felt like a big VIP. (I am not sure what store in the MK sells those but I ordered mine from Gifts of a Lifetime and had it shipped to my home ahead of time along with an "I'm going to WDW" gift package that included the autograph book, pen, EPCOT passport, etc.) :cake:

The final cool thing is that my daughter had some left over confetti at the end of our trip (believe it or not) and we saved it in a ziploc bag. I plan on surprising her for her 13th birthday this year. If all goes as planned, she won't know until out town car service pulls up to the WDW entrance and I am going to hand her the bag of confetti and tell her that it worked and it brought us back! :cloud9: (She thinks we are going to a business conference of mine in some town called Lake Buena Vista that she has never heard of but is not in Orlando where WDW is) :bday:

Hope this wasn't too long winded. Just be prepared to get lots of great attention from the CMs if the birthday person wears the button!

imadisneyfanatic-

I LOVE it!! :cheer2: It sounds like your dd had a magical 10th birthday, and I'm sure her 13th will be AWESOME!!

Thanks for sharing!

We spenty my 32nd birthday in WDW last December and despite DS not feeling well that day, and a little birthday cake mix up, it was a great day.

We started off with EE at MK at 7:00am. We even got the front of the monorail getting there, but DS was in a mood so him and I ended up not in front with the others. After a few rides, breakfast at the bake shop and a few more rides(including riding the Barnstormer with Goofy & Pluto), we had DS's haircut at the barber shop. Then we picked our parade spot and sat until that was done, when we returned to the Poly for a break. DS wasnt feeling well. DH & I got take out wings from the Kona Cafe and ate on our patio as well as had a few frozen drinks out there, while DSs rested.
We had dinner at Kona Cafe, killed a little time at the Tambu Lounge, then took our drinks out to the beach, grabbed lounge chairs and watched Wishes & EWP from there. It was magical!

I celebrated my 12th birthday...
what happened was we woke up, when horse back riding at fort wilderness, i got my hair braided, we went to the boardwalk, and then had a dinner at chef mickeys...i also got a birthday pin and sometimes they let us keep our FP's and go on again if they saw my pin.

We're going for our ds's 4th b-day(:bday: ). We're doing O'hana's for breakfast and Chef Michey's for dinner. I'm having his party the weekend before we go and I'm asking everyone to get him Disney stuff. Then on his b-day we're giving him a stuffed mickey and something else I just haven't figured that out yet. Any idea's?

We'll be celebrating my ds 4th bday at WDW in August. We have a ps for Cindy's for breakfast, and will be getting birthday pins at each park. We will be getting him a Pal Mickey for his present, and maybe a couple of pins for his lanyard. (We started pin collecting last year at Disneyland, he loves the pins with his favorite characters, and the ones that move, or have a special feature):bday: :cake: :mickeybar :wizard:

I have had many birthdays at WDW as a child and I am now planing DS's 3rd B-day in WDW in Oct. Growing up I turned 3, 6, 9, 12 and 14 in WDW. All of my b-day dinners where at Hoop Dee Doo in FW. I would highly recommend that you make a PS for your B-day dinner there. The characters at HDD will come up to your table, announce your b-day and the audience will sing to you!! It's wonderful:) I already have PS for HDD for DS's 3rd b-day. So both of us will have turned 3 at HDD!!:teeth: That morning we will take him to MK and get his b-day badge and eat breakfast at CP. I heard that CP decorates the table and the characters will give DS special attention. I am going to order a cake from the boardwalk bakery so we can have that later that night after HDD. Last year DS had a Pooh party and I kept the decorations and leftover paper plates, etc. I'm bringing them to WDW with us. I'm going to bring wrapping paper from home and buy some things for him while we're there and then wrap them up for his b-day. I hope I get more ideas from this thread. Best wishes for your b-day at WDW...:wave2:

My husband has surprised me with a trip in August for my 25th birthday! This is really special because we live in Colorado and traveling to Disney World is expensive for us. Plus the fact that we just honeymooned there last December, just six months ago!

I'm so psyched about this trip! Not sure what I want to do that day, the 25th, but so far I have a Priority Seating for dinner at Le Cellier, a restaurant in Epcot.

Have you spent (or are you planning) a birthday in the World?

Yes! :)

If so, was (is) it for your birthday or someone else's?

I'm planning a solo trip for myself for my 20th birthday this August!

Which park(s) did you go to (or plan to go to)?

I plan on doing a tour of MK, then hopping around to Epcot.

Did you do anything special or different than any other day at the World?

I am planning two character breakfasts, an afternoon tea and the Keys to the Kingdom tour. And I plan on doing a lot more shopping :)

Any questions just PM me. :)

I am planning a surprise trip for my daughter's 8th birthday in 3 (yep, 3!) weeks. Here is what I have planned for the day:
Chef Mickey's for breakfast
Family Magic Tour (this is a blast if you have never done it!)
I even took the plunge and decided "what do I have to lose" and called the tour person in charge to request a princess for the characters for the tour...yes I know it is a long shot, but at least I tried! :)
Then that evening we are going to have dinner at 1900 Park Faire followed by an Illuminations cruise and ice cream on the Boardwalk with other Dis members!

I am bringing decorations from home to decorate the hotel room and have ordered a cake from 1900 Park Fair for after dinner.

Can't wait!!!!

I was at WDW on my b-day (with a large group of family, staying off-site) in 2000. It wasn't planned that way, just ended up that time.

I didn't really plan anything special---I was just happy to be on vacation! My DH did mention that it was my b-day to the CM at the Country Bears show--and the CM asked the audience to sing to me. That was pretty cool.

We don't make a big deal out of adult b-days in the family (though we all went out to dinner that night). The funniest part, though, was when my DD (who was then 4) got up that morning. My BIL said to her, "It's your Mommy's birthday, aren't you going to wish her happy b-day". She kept saying, "No it's not!" Finally, with one little tear rolling down her face and a big ole pouty puss, she said, "but there's no BAWOONS, there's no PWESENTS". It just couldn't POSSIBLY be a b-day without balloons and presents!

We had dinner at LeCellier during my daughter's birthday trip. I mentioned to our server that we were at WDW that week to celebrate my daughter's birthday and she got a free birthday dessert. It was the best dessert I have ever eaten! I was called a chocolate moose. It was a chocolate mousse shaped like a moose head on the plate. They had made chocolate antlers and the chef had written "Happy Birthday" in chocolate around the rim of the plate. My description probably doesn't do it justice but it was almost too pretty to eat (almost LOL) Be sure to mention it to your server.

In fact, at EVERY dinner that week I mentioned to our server that we were at WDW to celebrate a birthday and we got a special free dessert or cake or cupcake of some sort at EVERY restaurant. It was very cool.:wave2:

In 2002 we spent my mum's birthday (age 54) at WDW. We didn't plan anything special but went to MK and picked up a birthday badge at City Hall.

This got a great response from CMs all day. One pulled her over to his ice-cream cart and told her to choose anything she wanted, for FREE!

We park hopped to EPCOT and while on the boat going from Morocco to the Norway side, one of the CMs on board had everyone wish her a happy birthday. He announced it over his mic, and she got embarrassed but in a happy way :sunny:.

I'm in the process of planning my son's 2nd b-day at DW (12/4). I've already planned to call ahead and get reservations for the character breakie at Chef Mickey's. I'm also planning on having LOTS of balloons delivered to our room(s) (Saratoga Springs). He just LOVES balloons. :earsboy:

Anyway, I plan to get him his b-day pin at MK. I know he'll only be 2 but we'll have lots of pics and I know he'll look back and wish he could remember it. I can't wait to get him down there!!!

imadisneyfanatic,

Thanks for sharing with me! I will definitely keep that in mind.

I know what you mean about deserts at Le Cellier! We ate there for our honeymoon awhile back. The cheese cake was so yummy!

I LOVE BIRTHDAYS AT WDW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My first trip there was for my 4th bday, which happens to be exactly ONE day before Mickey's birthday! I think it was a big one that year, maybe 50 or 60 (i'm 20 now, so you do the math!) so there were lots of bday celebrations going on. My favorite memory was from the ft wildnerness campfire, I got to go up infront of everyone while Chip and Dale gave me some kind of bday treat, I don't remember what it was, long time ago.

Next May my family is doing a double birthday trip! My younger cousin will be 4, and my mom will be 48!!! It's gonna be me, my mom, my best friend, 2 grandparents, 2 aunts, and 3 cousins. I can't wait! Good thing I have a trip in Dec. with some friends from school to hold me over!

We spent my sister's birthday in WDW last year (she turned 20 and has Downs Syndrome). We had a full day planned:

- we got her a bday pin
- bfast at Donald's Breakfastsarous... lots of extra attention given to her by the characters
- morning at Animal Kingdom
- dinner at Cinderella's Castle
- fireworks cruise on Grand One yacht complete with Mickey bday cake

It was definitely a memorable day!!!!

can you get birthday buttons at any of the other parks, we are planning on being at Epcot for my nephews 10th birhtday in october, and am planning to get reservatiosn at garden grill for a character lunch but was hoping we could get a birthday button there, thanks haze

You can get a birthday button at any parks at Guest Relations. The one at Epcot has "Happy Birthday" written in several languages.

My husband and I celebrated my 35th birthday last Labor Day weekend. We celebrated ALL weekend long!

*When I made our PS and room reservation, I mentioned that it was a special occassion to the CM on the phone.
*After check in at ASMo, we went out to dinner and returned to find balloons and a special birthday card signed by Mickey in our room!
*At Le Cellier, I received the beautiful dessert on a plate with Happy Birthday from (the name of our server) written in dark chocolate....it was delicious. We also had FANTASTIC service!
*At Crystal Palace, we returned to our seats to find Mickey confetti and curling ribbon on our table. I got a birthday cupcake and was invited to lead the parade around the dining area!
*At O'hana, I got a birthday cupcake, but declined the offer of a round of "Happy Birthday"
*At Garden Grill, we received an entire 6" birthday cake, which we couldn't possiblly eat all by ourselves....so we shared with the family next to us. I also had "Happy Birthday" sung to me to the tune of "Old MacDonald" and received a birthday certificate.
*At Cape May Cafe, I received another birthday cupcake, a birthday announcement, and another round of "Happy Birthday", sung by the staff/guests.
*At Boma, I got yet another birthday cupcake and a wonderful signed birthday card from the staff of Boma...in their native languages.
*I picked up a Birthday button at each park as we entered it.
*All day, every day, I was wished "Happy Birthday" by cast members -- and guests -- who saw my birthday button. I felt like a princess all day!
*The CM at El Rio del Teimpo gave my husband and I a boat to ourselves when she saw my birthday button. It was so romantic!

It was the most special birthday I can remember, because I spent it in the place I love...with the person I love the most. Good luck to you in planning your birthday celebration! :)
