Hi All!

I am thinking about buying into DVC and was wondering if Disney ever includes any "bonuses" to get you to sign up. For example, save $2,000 when you join now or maybe get a free week at a Disney resort when you become a member.

I know that there is nothing like this going on now I was just wondering if anyone ever got a deal in the past.

Thanks a lot!

Pre-construction SSR prices had some perks like that, a Disney vacation. I think they were first offered in Oct. '03, but I could be wrong. I think the price could even have been as low as $79 per point if you waived the vacation.

bobbiwoz is correct. From August '03 thru Jan 31 '04, anyone who purchased points at SSR received either a flat $10 off per point (taking the price down to $79 per) or they received an allotment of "Developer's Points" which could be used toward a "free" DVC stay.

The main reason for the incentives was the fact that DVC went about 9 months with no open property to sell. BCV sold-out in the Fall '03, with the off-site Vero Beach close behind. From the end of '03 through May '04, SSR was all they had to sell, and people buying into SSR could not even use their points until their resort building opened.

DVC has a Magical Beginnings program in which you can sell back your first year's points in exchange for a $10 per point credit toward the purchase price. There have also been recent reports of a flat $5 off per point if you want to keep that first year's points.

DVC Guides (salespeople) don't have the authority to throw in free trips or point discounts just to make a sale. The prices are fixed to avoid any attempts at negotiation.

If a promotion is available, they can certainly offer you the promotional pricing. But if the DVC program is going to benefit you and your family, I wouldn't recommend waiting for a promotion that may never materialize.

We bought at OKW in 1994 and the incentive was free length-of-stay park passes for each visit until 2000(depending on type of accomodations you had). It was an amazing offer and we saved so much (as did our guests who came with us or who went on our points). It was a real shock having to buy passes again in 2000, but we quickly recovered. I don't think that offer will be repeated, but it was a great one!
